Woohoo. Political talk, let the shit fly.

Anyways, this guy is a nimrod to me, but comparing anyone in this thing to Guliani is BS to me and I am tired of hearing people do that. 9/11 was completly different....100%, nothing the same to me except they both can have te word 'disaster' attatched to them.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

You gotta feel for the guy, though, he is being scapegoated by the administration.

SCAPEGOAT? IT was his fucking job to help the people in need during a natural crisis. I returned to Gulfport multiple times after the hurricane, and a full week after, I asked if anyone had seen FEMA. NOPE. Not a single person. The only assistance was from local business, other states were sending aid, churchs, and the military. NOT A SINGLE FEMA REP TO BE FOUND. I believe it was 10 days after that someone mentioned that they finally saw FEMA trucks rolling in.

THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! He should be held accountable, it WAS his fault.

If you mean a scapegoat in the context of preventing what happened in New Orleans, you are absolutely correct. Gov. Blanco and Mayor Nagin are responsible for not getting everyone out of there in time and/or having properly prepared shelters for the people that did not evacuate (i.e. providing proper security, supplies and a plan for prompt evacuation after the storm passed). He should not take the heat for their inability to prepare the citizens of New Orleans. By the way, I think some of the blame lies on the shoulders of the citizens as well for not heading the evacuation notice. Many people had the means and opportunity to leave before the storm hit and just decided not to move. If these people would have not been in the city after the storm hit, it would have been a much easier job handling the people left behind because they did not have the resources to leave.

If you mean a scapegoat in the context of providing support and supplies for after the hurricane passed, you are wrong. FEMA should have been prepared and ready to move immediately after the storm passed and it was safe to enter the affected areas. As the head of the FEMA, he should have anticipated the need and have as many resources in place as possible.

My humble opinion is there is plenty of blame to go around on all levels and Mr. Brown will not be the last government official to loose her/his position.

I agree with you for most of your post, except I think that Brown will be the only federal official to lose his position. I am saying that all of the scapegoating for the federal response is heaped on Brown, when in fact Chertoff and Bush are also to blame. At some level, it's not only his fault that he in an incompetant crony.

He may be the only federal but I was implying the Blanco and Nagin will not be re-elected because of there inability to handle the situation. Also, I feel many people are trying to spin this into a Bush problem but I have failed to find any compelling argument that this was his fault. Mr. Brown had a job to do and he did not get it done.

Who do you think appointed Brown, fresh off getting fired from overseeing Arabian horse shows?
