the way the draft was designed there was certain combine #s that were hardline and was a dead giveaway on the players true ability. I don't have the new game yet but it sounds like that's gone out the window. For example in the old version if a WR had a agility score of 7.21 he couldn't have a GD above 30. I won't list all the examples but there was tons of them. I think the ability to have knockout drafts just went out the window, it's going to be more of a crapshoot and should help level the playing field imo.

Anyone get reshacker to work? I'm sure I'm fucking it up, but I don't remember the steps exactly.

I opened reshacker, opened "Front Office Football Seven.exe"

Went down the bmp tree and replaced the icons I wanted

Save file

I opened and it is still using the old bmp's. What am I doing wrong?

Trying from memory to help ya: I *think* I remember that when replacing each individual .bmp or messing with a dialog box (think that's what reshacker refers to a screen as) that there was some type of "save" before jumping to the next one. Therefore if you replaced 4 images and then made a mistake resizing your roster window for example, you could just jump out of the roster window (or "dialog") without losing the 4 images you had already done correctly. Then in the end you save the whole .exe (back-up original .exe to a different name first of course).

This was how many years ago? so I might be wrong. When I swap from Mac to Windows I'll know for sure and post if needed.


EDIT: Are you hacking the game or the demo? Just wondering if the demo has some security code or something to keep people from using ResHacker to toggle it from "demo" to "full version".

Demo, I should buy it and see if that changes it. You could be right about the security thing

I was successful today as a first time reshack user. Make sure you're running it as the admin. I didn't have to buy my version, initially it wouldn't let me save but that was because of the whole admin thing.

My issue were the old images I used were not being used any longer by fof. Even though the numbers and images were still there, he decided to re-add say 300.bmp as 345.bmp (or whatever).

I can tell you that only width-by-height and file type *should* matter. If you have a 300x300px .bmp that FOF previously called 300.bmp and now calls 345.bmp you should have no issues swapping it out.

i did it initially with 2k4 and then with 2k7. then gstelmack made things really easy with his utility.

Reading some of the posts on FOFC about the version, I'm kind of torn. This is obviously a glorified patch, but I don't mind spending because of how long I've played and will play the game. I consider it more of a donation for his hard work than buying a new update.

I'm also surprised to see how loyal his fanbase is. It's good to see, that's for sure. I'm glad there are still gamers out there who want actual games rather than playable movies. FoF is one of the few games that doesn't spend (any) time on graphics but focuses entirely on gameplay. Shit, as ugly as the FoF UI is, at least it isn't a confusing clusterfuck like OOTP.

I agree from what Matt and other people have said on the fof board. The game is head and shoulders above the current version. I could care less about the UI. I just want things under the hood to work. Hell, I would just buy it if the end-of-game logic is improved. Hopefully it is...I can't wait to check it out.
