Great game Beez. this was an amazing game that went back and forth. great defensive battle for sure.
Again, the game being in Newark likely helped give us the edge. feel very fortunate to get by you guys. you have a very dangerous team there.

The games were a lot of fun to watch and both teams fought hard. Defenses stepped up for sure. I look at two penalties that really did us in for this game.
This series here:
That offsides gave you a first down and really hurt us field position wise. From having the ball at your 39, to our own 18 because of that penalty. Ouch.4-5-NWK08 (2Q: 08:10) Drew Compton punted 31 yards. Dexter Crapo called for a fair catch at the NWK39. PENALTY: Georgia was called for Offsides.
Newark: Strong formation, strength is right. The defense is in a 43 with nickel personnel and 2-deep man-to-man coverage, expecting the pass.
1-10-NWK13 (2Q: 07:59) Rich Sparkman ran outside the right tackle for 8 yards. Tackled by ILB Rusty Brock, assisted by DT Kevin Perkins. Key block delivered by Wendell Sands.
Newark: Pro formation with two tight ends, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 with nickel personnel and weak-side man, otherwise cover-7 zone coverage, expecting the pass.
2-2-NWK21 (2Q: 07:21) Darnell Castillo ran outside the right tackle for 3 yards. Tackled by DT Wayne Sparkman, assisted by ILB Phil Pinkston. Key block delivered by Quinn Glover.
Newark: Pro formation with two tight ends, strength is right. The defense is in a 43 and 2-deep man-to-man coverage, expecting the run.
1-10-NWK24 (2Q: 06:48) Darnell Castillo ran around right end for 6 yards. Tackled by DT Wayne Sparkman. Key block delivered by Norman Enright.
Newark: I formation, with the second wideout in the slot, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 and strong-side man, otherwise cover-7 zone coverage, expecting the run. Brock is blitzing.
2-4-NWK30 (2Q: 06:04) Travis Kennedy pass fell incomplete, intended for WR Mitchell Brown. DE Harris Chamberlin hurried the quarterback into a bad throw. Newark's Fred Preston was hurt on the play. This appears to be a minor knee injury. He should be able to remain in the game.
Newark: I formation, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 with dime personnel and 4-deep zone coverage, keying aggressively on the pass.
3-4-NWK30 (2Q: 05:58) Rich Sparkman ran outside the right tackle for 5 yards. Tackled by DT Anthony Warren, assisted by CB Clyde Humphrey. Key block delivered by Louie Grier.
Newark: I formation, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 and weak-side man, otherwise cover-7 zone coverage, expecting the run.
1-10-NWK35 (2Q: 05:15) Darnell Castillo ran around left end for 1 yard. Tackled by S Neil Lucio.
Newark: Single-Back formation, strength is right. The defense is in a 43 with nickel personnel and weak-side man, otherwise cover-7 zone coverage, expecting the pass.
2-9-NWK36 (2Q: 04:39) Rich Sparkman ran around left end for 6 yards. Tackled by DT Anthony Warren.
Newark: Single-Back formation, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 and 1-deep, bump-and-run coverage, expecting the run.
3-3-NWK42 (2Q: 04:03) Travis Kennedy pass completed to RB Darnell Castillo for 0 yards. Tackled by S Neil Lucio.
4-3-NWK42 (2Q: 03:39) Drew Compton punted 47 yards. Dexter Crapo returned the kick 7 yards to the GEO18. Tackled by Fred Preston.
And this:
That penalty took us from a good chance of converting on a running play, to a 3rd and 7 and it's tough to convert TDs like that. Also, if we didn't miss two field goals we would have had a chip shot there for the lead. Who says kickers don't matter?Georgia: I formation with two tight ends, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, expecting the run.
3-2-NWK04 (4Q: 02:21) PENALTY: Georgia was called for Delay of Game.
Georgia: Weak formation with three wide receivers, strength is right. The defense is in a 43 and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, expecting the pass.
3-7-NWK09 (4Q: 02:21) Billy Troutman pass was blocked at the line, intended for WR Ken Finch. DT Zach Reed blocked the pass. The quarterback threw into double coverage.
Georgia: Single-Back formation with four receivers, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 with nickel personnel and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, keying aggressively on the pass.
4-7-NWK09 (4Q: 02:15) Billy Troutman pass fell incomplete, intended for RB J.R. Haass. DE Antoine Nece drove right through Frank Russell to hurry the quarterback. The ball goes over on downs.
I really like the direction this team is going in. We haven't allowed a team to reach 300 yards of offense in 5 straight weeks. That's not easy to do. With two top 15 picks in next years draft, I think we'll soon make the move to elite.
Good luck going forward Matt. I'm pulling for you to take it all.

Good game BOSS! You really had a good game plan and your defense showed up to play, McNeil could never find a rhythm. Grier outplayed McNeil and really either team could've have won the game. Home field advantage may have just given us that extra edge.
Now I need to go watch the Fresno-London game.
We lost TE Ragley for the big contest with Newark. That is going to be a problem (I mean next-man up opportunity)

Good job markc!
You really shut down our running game. At least we showed up and made it a game for the most part. Defense is pretty solid but we are sure lacking any offensive firepower to get to the next level.
We'll good luck next week in Newark. Should be a great game.2003,2004,2007,2008,2010,2013,2024,2025,2031,2037, 2038 and 2039 NC North Division Champions, 2012 and 2017 Wild Card

It was disappointing to lose at home in a game which didn't really match the hype.
It was a stop start, spluttering kind of game and neither team really got into their stride.
But that's the magic of the playoffs, it's a clean slate and the regular season don't mean squat.
Congrats to Mike and his Warthogs.sigpic

good news is the Mules had a 14-13 lead going into 4Q
bad news is George threw 5 INTs and you dont win many when that happens.
Portlands G Emerson, thanks SLC lol, took over the game and got OPoW as well.

I think this years Mules were a measuring stick for a lot of teams. Murfreesboro beat the average and below teams, but got handled by the good/elite teamssigpic

Ya, we have our stud TE out too. He was a huge weapon for us catching over 800yds and 11TDs. I don't want to blow this guys career out of the water and risk playing him............but we are in the playoffs and there's only up to 2 more games.Originally posted by markc View PostGood game BOSS!
