You WERE coaching... you DID leave him out there. The only thing your fighting is self-responsibility it appears. Or lack of communication of your point, which seems perfectly clear only you're unclear on how to "talk" to the FOF engine ("inactive" for pre-season means the player is not out there "so late in the 4th game" regardless of how much it seems to hurt to make that choice ("how will the good teams react to hard choices in the game, anyone crying for increased FA talent?").Originally posted by SteveBsFan View PostThey do, but this isn't the NFL. If I were coaching, I probably wouldn't have had my stud TE out there so late in the 4th game.
If you're about to type in anger I just ask you to read what I said, explain any differences, and I will again respond in a fair attempt to help you if you're not too insulting on your question...
Before commenting, are you "for" realism or "against"?Originally posted by SteveBsFan View PostTo be fair, Patriots lost Gronk on an extra point in a blowout game. Injuries happen, and they suck, but I guess I'm just frustrated at the stubborn nature of the league when it involves any change that could impact 'realism', unless (like Boss pointed out) that involves team location.
"For": stop crying about a realistic pre-season injury AND accept that you're being beat by GM's better than you (nothing more realistic than that) or suffered a % game dice roll.
"Against": stop crying about pre-season injuries since that's reality and in FOF's case, "There isn't a player named 'Tom Brady' with a coach named 'Bill Belichick' doing all the studying/decision making" for you." - They don't sign in for 4 mins a week and run "last week's gameplan". Fact is, there's a lot of fans who have been spoiled by T.V. (Patriots' fans more than 10x the entire rest of the league the past decade) and if they knew 1/100th of the studying/concentration involved in football they'd cry. Competing against the real world is hard and only 1/32 wins every time. 31/32 are losers.
Since we've yet to hit 32 years in the IFL, anyone complaining is by definition a "front running crybaby who can't handle not being the best"... or Republican as we call them in my neck O' the woods.
FWIW - I've suffered a 1) Supreme IFL Head Coach loss 2) TWO 1st round-cut-immediately (12/12) from potential (top 10, and 1st late round pick) busts at DE and CB - both high impact positions, 3) More cap-related cuts than anyone I'm aware of.
My stance on joining FOF but realized long ago that there's not nearly enough negative repercussion to lack-of-talent (QB-WR-Originally posted by BOSS View PostWhoever was blocking him should be cut immediately. LOL
WR-Empty-all-else, anyone) to pay attention to. Yet the IFL STILL has had 3 Champions in a row of the "irregular breed".

We won ours based on a great running offense. I'd say we didn't have QB-WR-WR-WR-TE.NEWARK BULLDOGS WALL OF HONOR

GG Brando,
A typically tight, toe to toe kinda game between two really well matched teams.
London went down by 2 TD's early, completed a late fightback to edge in front only for a loooong Clawz FG to send it into OT with the last play of the 4th qtr.
I guess it was our turn to win though as we won the coin toss and marched down for a FG to win. Glad we don't have the new OT rules!
Our games always seems to be exciting and whatever the result, they're certainly fun.
I'm already looking forward to the return fixture.
Good luck till then bud.sigpic

I'm not going to reply in anger, I think one of the biggest and only outbursts I've had in this league is in this thread when I was upset about my TE going down. Overreaction? Without a doubt. The frustration lies with FoF, Jim, and the general reluctance to implement any house rules to even attempt to better this dated game.Originally posted by JesterBlaze View PostYou WERE coaching... you DID leave him out there. Injuries are not the issue, even injuries in pre-season. I am fully responsible for my disinterest in the game, and could have easily downloaded the file and sat a few good players. My anger was simply boiled over from the recent discussion on salary cap changes, which were instantly met by those unwilling to make change, and it reminded me of the same incident we had just about each and every time change has been suggested. Generally I walk away from the computer when those things frustrate me, but decided to vent a little bit.
I think your view on "anyone complaining can't handle not being the best" is a little extreme and quite wrong. I've suffered many losing seasons, but don't 'complain' to the league to try and make it better for me. I'm for cutting the salary cap despite the fact I'm one of the teams it would hurt more than help. I've been for turning injuries off in the pre-season, and I think this is the first time in all these seasons I've actually lost a player in pre-season for an extended amount of time.
Not only that, I've also suggested minor things like allowing teams the first coaching stage exclusive rights to former coaches after you pointed out to me how someone with a stud coach grabbed another teams coach which meant that first stud coach sat in the FA pool until the next season. Coaching has never impacted me personally, but it is a terribly flawed system that I felt could use some house rules to correct.
Unless I'm the only one to notice, we have a stream of GM's who leave the game/league every off-season, and my suggestions have only been to help implement house rules to try and keep a fun league, even if it doesn't completely mesh with NFL rules and regulations.
Anyway, just wanted to clear that up. If you consider me a whiner or a complainer because I want to try and keep the league fresh, so be it. It does not matter because like I said earlier, this is my last season in the game regardless of how it plays out. (note: I don't want to be replaced mid-season because I dealt with another incredibly boring off-season, and want to give it one fighting chance before I go. Perhaps as a winner, though doubtful)

Steve,
I honestly hope you reconsider, but if you really are on your farewell tour at least Matt and Co. have time to line up a replacement.
As for the injury thing - Im against it but only cause I make sure to get my GPs in.
As for the CAP thing - Im for whatever everyone else wants as long as it does not place a burden on Matt and Co.
I, like others, have put in a lot of time/effort into the IFL. Not as much as some but still. It would be a blow too me if one day it just ceased to exist. So I want the administration of the IFL to be as painfree as is possible.sigpic

But who says those rule changes would change the league for the better? This is a text sim that is supposed to closely resemble real football. I understand that a lot of it does not, but I don't think any of the proposed rule changes makes the game any more realistic, except for perhaps tweaking the coach hiring stage. Turning injuries off certainly does not. And I am of the opinion that cutting into the salary cap would not make it more realistic. The only purpose that would serve, IMO, is give the less talented teams more talent at the expense of the better teams, and whether that would really help the lesser teams? Whether a 8th year 60/60 rated center will be a good pickup for a struggling team is debatable, especially if people throw the typical ridiculous amount of money at the player and get into a bidding war. I would argue that it might hurt them.Originally posted by SteveBsFan View PostI'm not going to reply in anger, I think one of the biggest and only outbursts I've had in this league is in this thread when I was upset about my TE going down. The best way to balance the league more is for those teams that consistently struggle to learn, especially how to draft better.
Everyone in the league should have read and learned this:
http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=72313
Or this:
http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=61098
I wonder how many people in the league don't pay attention to static bars when drafting, or how many put too much emphasis on bars and not enough on combine and other indicators. It doesn't take long to figure it out, and once you do and you start seeing results, it is very rewarding and far more rewarding than signing someone's leftovers in the offseason.
I honestly hope end up reconsidering and you don't leave, as you have done a nice job with Houston and you seem to be a very active GM and we NEED more of those. An active GM who genuinely wants to improve his team is of far more benefit to this league than any of these rule changes we have voted on, IMO.
