Color coded FOF #'s, Positions, ratings...

I put these up a long time ago but in case any GMs who've joined the IFL since can benefit:







This one looks a little off and not sure if it's needed but found it in an old directory, not sure what "number" to replace in ResHacker for this one as it's not on filename:



The colors going smoothly through the spectrum don't make it seem so good/bad when someone raises/drops one point between FOF's default "good/very good" thresholds yet do represent an easy visual distinction between all players 4-5 points apart. After using this for a long time and then seeing the defaults again I can say that these are not just cosmetic. I can get a feel for a roster in a moment that would take me 10 seconds or so of focusing on numbers with the default graphics. When you're scanning a whole league like I just did after today's file, that's reducing your time required by 90%.

BTW - The filenames are currently appended with the numbers needed in ResHack to find the FOF ones to swap out. I can find the ResHack instructions if needed but know that I got the info from FOFC a long time ago so it's out there and probably common knowledge for most. Let me know if I need to post it for anyone.

I've wanted to use these but never have got around to it. I'd like to get the instructions if you have them handy. Thanks for posting.

Using Reshacker you need to open up FOF, go to ResHacker menu "Action->replace bitmap" and swap out the new image(s) with the default FOF ones. Specifically you'll be looking for:

Bitmap 300
Bitmap 303
Bitmap 323
and 1 more for that 4th image that I don't currently have the number for.



I just copied/pasted/adjusted the above so please let me know where I'm wrong or incomplete. I remember there were directories to choose from to get to the bitmaps once you open FOF inside of ResHacker.

And while in ResHacker you can adjust the size of your windows. I like the roster, transactions, draftees, and others to be long enough to fit my whole screen. Be careful to save a back-up of your FOF.exe though because ResHacker gives you the power to screw up your version of the game if not careful.

in fact, if i read this correctly, you can use resource patcher to add JB's

Resource Patcher: There are a variety of pieces of the FOF UI that people would like to change. Various artists out there have created replacement bitmaps for some of these elements. This utility will accept "packages" of these replacement resources and allow you to patch the FOF exe with them in a user-friendly manner (the old method involved manual use of ResHacker). This also makes it easy to re-patch the FOF exe whenever the game gets patched. There are two packages included with work from Icy and Cuervo72 of Front Office Football Central. These can be used as sample packages for those who wish to create their own for use in this utility.
