  • 3-4 Defense in FOF.

I know the WLB with over 90 technique will get 10+ sacks. Other than that I don't know jack and might want to try running the 34 this season. Anyone with knowledge please discuss so that I might learn something.

Specifically, I really like my pass-rushing DEs. Will I lose any production from them on a switch to 3-4?

LDE needs to be a pass rusher so PRT and PRS
NT is run stuffer and PRS
RDE is essentially a DT so Run and PRS
SILB and WILB need to be run defenders (WILB comes out in passing situations)
SLB run, pass coverage and pass rush
WLB PRT and PRS as they rush on every down..

That might stop me right there though I still want to hear more discussion. I'd hate to lose the pass-rushing I get from my RDE.

I'm "stuck" with a SILB who has perfect blitzing teq and STR but can't play any other LB position without a drop in ratings. I want some sacks out of this guy, as Kurt/Orlando can relate to.

Oh, a question: I know it says everywhere that the WLB rushes every down, so how do they accumulate coverage stats? Is that from nickel/dime or something?

You can get the same production from your DEs; I had a RDE/LDE combo that did 15.5 and 10 sacks respectively last season.

The WLB gets those coverage stats on bat downs / jumps while rushing

The RE is primarily a run-stuffer BUT that doesn't mean he can't be a rusher---this just allows you some flex when building.

You can get by with full-bar guy @ LE while your RE only needs RD and PS bars---saves money.

I cannot run a 3-4 in FOF to save my life. Just terrible at it.

Thanks for the info. I ask not debating but wondering: Were those guys lost to retirement/FA? I don't see those stats amongst your current crew but they're very promising.

Also, if WLBs get coverage stats only from deflections (thus no pass coverage attempts otherwise) then they would be at 100% pass defense %. Something isn't adding up.

Unless you have WLB as a backup at another position. Or the game inserts in as a backup somewhere.

I've tried 3 times in the past to run the 3/4. The first 2 times I didn't have the personnel and quickly abandoned it. The 3rd time I had an excellent linebacker corps and great WLB. After game 6, 3 starters were gone for the season and the 4th was gone for 6 games. I'm just sticking to the 4/3. Way less hassle.

On a side note, has there ever been a GM with a more injured roster than Jave in his career?

I think the WLB drops into coverage in the dime.

                              I'm pretty sure he's rushing
