FB: Pass Blocking Vs. Blitz Pickup... Chime in!

Whad'ya know about the intricacies of Pass Blocking Vs. Blitz Pickup, specifically in FBs but in general as well? Is Blitz Pickup the rate at which he'll "lock on" to a defender and Pass Blocking the rate at which he'll win the battle when doing so?

I always thought of it like this: you keep the FB in to block, if there's a blitzer he uses blitz pickup, if there's not a blitzer he uses pass blocking and helps out a lineman.

Not sure if this is correct though

I'd like to more about this too. When I'm feeling ambitious, I'll check and see if my opponent likes to blitz and/or has really good pass rushers - and then I'll crank up the keep RB/FB/TE in to pass block %. Otherwise I'll lower it to try to get them into the play. But I haven't played close attention to my blitz pickup/pass block ratings to see how effective they are - seems like a hard thing to evaluate.
