TB's PLAYOFF RACE COVERAGE: Week 13 recap
It was not a very good week for the 1st and 2nd teams in the respective divisions. The overall weekend record for these teams was a miserable 6-10. What is the impact … well, for the volatile wild card races that exist in both conferences, this just added some gasoline to the already burning inferno.
But before we looks at the wild card races, let’s visit the division championships.
AC- North – Well it really is up for grabs as division leader Wichita loses its third in a row. Montreal and Cleveland are just one game behind. All three are wild card hopefuls if they can’t bring home the big prize in the division.
AC-South – Despite Murfreesboro loss this weekend, there is too much ground for their division rivals to make up. It looks like they will host a wild card game at the end of the season as the South champs.
AC-East – West Virginia continues to walk on water and there does not seem to be anything in their way to claim home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They locked up the East division crown this last weekend.
AC-West – Portland has a three game lead on Los Angeles and looks like they can walk in to the finish line and take the division crown as well and the second first round bye in the playoffs.
So, three out of the four American Conference champs seem to be well in place with already crowned with four games to be played.
NC-North – Pennsylvania and Lansing both have some football to play before one of them will be crowned champ. Lansing is only a half game back. Just for laughs, they will meet in the last game of the season if they cannot figure out their destinies before then.
NC-South The “poor man’s” division has only one team without a losing record and that is record is 6-6. It seems no one wants to step up as all three of the title contenders lost – Georgia, Little Rock and Tulsa. It is still anybody’s prize to grab.
NC-East Lawrence remains one game up on Newark. The game between them (in two weeks) looks to be huge.
NC-West Vancouver looks like they will hold on to claim their second consecutive division championship as they maintain a two game lead with four games to be played.
So, unlike the American conference, only one division seems to be crowned – Vancouver in the West.
Now for the wild card outlook >>>
AMERICAN CONFERENCE – With three out of the four division championships already in the bag … all eyes are turned to four teams that have identical 7-5 records and the current leader in the North with a 8-6 record. There are no division games this weekend so all teams need to keep pace with a win.
Wichita, with a three game losing streak, being a little beat up, should find the mark against terrible 2-10 Dakota squad.
Montreal is not as luck in their draw as they host Pennsylvania which is in a dog fight with division rival Lansing. Both teams have been spotty in recent weeks; so this should be a even game … we would throw out the home field advantage on this one.
Cleveland come off its fifth win in a row by embarrassing Norfolk last weekend. They will match up against a respectable Madison team but should bring home the “W” in that the Clawz seem to be peaking at the right time.
Norfolk must pick up their tail between their legs as they host Georgia. Both teams were destroyed last weekend.
Los Angeles travels to a dangerous Vermont team that has been hot and cold all season. We would anticipate cold water in the north lands but one never knows what may come out of the faucet if the water heater is turned on.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE – The AC had five teams looking for two wild card berths. The NC has eight!!
Pennsylvania travels to Montreal as discussed above. Not a stroll in the park.
Lansing should keep pace and perhaps overtake Penn as they host the pitiful Iowa City Snipe Hunters.
Georgia looks to rebound after giving up 51 points to Penn last week end. Not out of the question even considering they are travelling. They meet up with underperforming Norfolk. We can’t predict which of these teams will show up to play football for this game.
Little Rock hosts a Chicago team that surprised Los Angeles last weekend and ended the Crusader’s six game win streak. The Toads do not like surprise parties and should be enough prepared to stave off another Crusader invasion.

After losing, Tarcone beat us to the punch and posted:
This week, Tulsa travels to West Virginia and all good money says that the Beast will put the “nail in the coffin”. We think “the king is dead” too …. BUT, we predict that his ghost will rise this week and end the Beast’s run for an undefeated season. You heard it here first.
Lawrence travels to Fresno and have enough to see this game through.
Newark host a[u] Portland]/u] team with nothing to play for. The Seals have their division and look to be solid for a bye in the first round of the playoffs. So what Seal team shows up. The Phantoms have sent messages to Jeff to play for pride.
Salt Lake City host another hot and cold team in Houston. Beans has made it known how much enjoys playing the role as spoiler. They just may do that this week as we see the Renegades riding those Stallions with some style points.
Well that’s our round-up for Week 13. Things are still very, very interesting in the IFL as we come down to the regular season finish line. And a reminder, Games are on Thursday!
