On the staffing and hiring thing... Doesnt the game lower the amount of money you have available to sign a coach/staff after each stage? I thought that was the case... Or maybe I am thinking of the final stage... Could be confused.

Yes, the game does make you offer less if you put in a new offer in after stage 1. I'm not sure what the logic is there, but I've always noticed if you are late to the party on a guy, you can't swoop in and make as big an offer as you can in stage 1

And onto the players deal... I am kind of along the lines of if it isnt broke dont fix it..

I always agree that teams should be able to run their teams as they deem fit. And I am normally against anything that tells you how to sign/pick up players.

But I have been very happy with the 1/2 year rule.... While I agree money in the leagues now a days is crazy... Having someone need to match bonus to contract does make people think about players before they sign them. Atleast it does to me... Yes the big targets are going to get the money.... but the mid-level talent see less 1y 5m deals with a 4m bonus because of the rule...

              But that is just me...

I think the less rules and regulations the better. I actually like our bonus/salary rule. sorta keeps things undercontrol due to long term liabilities as well as making the base at a point where it might actually force a renegotiation.
The 3 yr contract rule still can have $40 mil bonus contracts and base salaries.

I have another suggestion! (yay, right?)

What about putting this option for poll:

                  Pre-season
Option 1) Injuries off, sim once (1,2,3,4,5)
Option 2) Injuries off, sim twice (1,2,3)(4,5)
Option 3) Injuries off, sim four (1,2)(3)(4)(5)
                  Option 4) Leave as is

The nice combo between rust, injuries and the lack of being able to control anything once the game starts makes for a shit situation for most GM's.

There are many players I'd like to just play for a few snaps a game, feel they don't have any rust, then let the rookies take over. That works in the NFL because I don't think they have the 46 man active roster rule in the pre-season, but we do.

I just feel to avoid being forced to play starters more than we really should in the pre-season, yet still having control to adjust gameplans and see our rookies progress, option 2 or 3 would work great for me. I'm not a fan of simming the entire PS at once, but definitely not a fan of the current rules.

I'm also not a fan of injuries in the pre-season when we have up to 14 guys in street clothes who should be taking a lot of these snaps once the starters play a few downs.

I asked that a few years back and it was pretty overwhelming that people didn't want an injury off quick sim.

Good golly, after that preseason week 2 injury ridden game against Reno, I'm all for injury off in preseason.

But, I'm kinda like Matt...the fewer rules the better for me... I can't remember the dang things to save my life.

Does the "start" matter or just playing time? WLBs often get robbed of a "start" anyway if the defense's 1st formation is nickel or dime in the 4-3.

If you want less time than 50% you can put them is as a back-up.

As always, I personally love pre-season though I don't have very much to look at this particular time around other than my 1st rounder.

Oops, didn't know it was discussed a few years back.

While I like the pre-season to check out rookies, I don't like the rust factor. Personally, I'd be more inclined to shut off the 'rust' portion of the game than injuries.

Right now the game forces you to play starters in order to avoid that, but with the 46 man squad, it's almost impossible to avoid them playing roughly 50% of the game unless they're a QB.

I vote turn the injuries off in pre-season, and no midweeks during the pre-season as well.

I would be opposed to any rule that lessens the expirence of the league and what realism it actually does have. So I would be opposed to any rule being introduced that would turn injuries off for preseason.

Define realism? If you are comparing it to the NFL, the FOF preseason is pretty far off from that. Having rust because you have a player play just 2 games but he misses games 3 and 4 is far from real (didn't Jim ever hear of practice?).

We also have 0 control over what happens in the game. Some players look very sharp in the pre-season so they get fewer snaps to avoid injury. We have no way of really knowing how a player looks during a game regarding rust, so we're forced to just blindly play players, and are forced to use regular season roster rules (which isn't like the NFL) so we can't exactly completely sit a starter once they come out of the game otherwise backups would be dead tired.

I'm not sure if your post was being snarky or you really want the preseason rules to remain as 'real' as possible, but if you're being real, I completely disagree.
