2021 Staff Hiring Stage 3 Done

As feared (but never before noticed) there are coaches now sitting in the Coaching Pool for all 2021 that I'd trade my current for. Despite growing used to FOF's imperfections this one surprises me that there's no mechanism to "clean up" the lost talent during the 3 Coaching Stages.


Then there's poor Leslie Steiner... no love for the former ANC QB this off-season. For shame, BK... for shame!!

Well, Jester ... looks like Tyrell returns to where he left five years ago. I screwed up in reupping him back then and am damn lucky the game gymnastics allowed for him to return to his second home today (I originally snatched him from St. Louis). Anyway, I remember what shape I was in when he left me five years ago and understand first hand what you are feeling now. I wish you could have gotten one of the discards as a consolation.

Anyway, in the past couple of days, I have read everything I could about "impact of coaches", the hiring stages etc., etc. I researched all the leagues' forums and their discussions and FOF Central. There is no collective agreement anywhere on what impact a coach has in the game or to the mechanics of the three day hiring process.

I have my own opinions on these topics and value the coach a lot higher than what I was reading ... but I am old school and don't totally buy in to all that I read, even when it comes to those game plan strategies that focus on WR BPR.

Well good luck in the season ... it will be more of a challenge for you, but of anyone, I know you will find a way to make the magic roll.

I do put faith in having good coaches but definitely ain't hurt about it if that's how it sounded. I'm just anxious to see some incoming draftees!!

My personal opinion is that the good coaches will "match up" better on a per play basis. For example I might set my tendencies to 50/50 during a given game and at the end of it I might have 30 runs and 30 passes and the defense might have been in run defense 30 times and pass defense 30 times. Against the better coaches it seems I'll run into run defense and pass into pass defense more often despite the end #'s matching up to the gameplan (for the most part) in both cases. But I haven't calculated any data to come to this not-even-a-conclusion.

I think you are definatly right.

I have seemed too always have second tier, at best, coaches and my teams are constantly rushing into run Ds and passing against pass Ds. On the other hand my defense is constantly playing run against pass and pass against run.
