  • 2020 Playoff Discussion

By no means as thorough as Trivia Bytes, thought I'd kick off some discussion...

With only 4 games left, it looks like there are some very good races in almost every division.

    AC North Contenders:
    Cleveland (9-3), Montreal (8-4), Wichita (7-5)

With no clear cut schedule advantage that I can see, the division title could very likely come down to the last week's Cleveland at Montreal game. A Montreal win would give them the head-2-head in case of a tie in record. Wichita is a long shot due to their poor division record but are certainly in play for the wild card.

    AC South Contenders:
    Murf (8-4), Houston (7-5)

Houston has the easier schedule, but have 3 out of 4 on the road. If Houston can win at Murf on the last week, they'll own the h2h tiebreaker - they just need to stay within a game.

    AC East Contenders:
    West Virginia (9-3), Norfolk (8-4), Hartford (6-6)

2 consecutive losses by WVA have made this a race, and WVA's sched. seems slightly tougher than Norfolk. Still Norfolk will likely need to beat WVA at home in 2 weeks to have a shot at the division title. Hartford probably needs to run the table to have a chance at the division.

    AC West Contenders:
    Anchorage (7-5), Portland (6-6), Fresno (6-6)

This race looks very messy and might be the most exciting one to follow. Fresno seems to have a decent shot to come out on top with what looks to be the most favorable schedule of the 3.

    NC North Contenders:
    Lansing (7-5), Penn (5-7), Madison (4-eight)
What makes this interesting is that Madison is 4-0 in the division, and play both teams ahead of them. So even if they lose to Houston, they have a path if Lansing loses all 4 of their games (very, very unlikely). Penn has a tough road game at Murf but if Lansing stumbles, they could be right there.

    NC South Contenders:
    Tulsa (12-0), Georgia (8-4)

Georgia is likely only playing for a wildcard spot at this point, but in the unlikely event of a Tulsa collapse they do host the TigerHawks the last week, so they would have a chance to steal the division.

    NC East Contenders:
    Newark (10-2), Lawrence (9-3)

This should be a great fight to the finish. Lawrence hosts Newark on the final weekend, and will probably need to take that one since the Bulldogs took the first. Newark has the easier schedule on paper, but with Burger ailing, Newark can't take any game for granted.

    NC West Contenders:
Vancouver (9-3), Salt Lake City (7-5)

SLC is a surprise 2nd half contender, with 6 wins in a row against some quality opponents. The teams go head to head in 2 weeks at SLC. If VAN wins that game the division is theirs no matter what else happens, but if SLC wins, they have a easier schedule the last 2 weeks and could take it.

Wildcards in the NC probably goes to the loser of the NWK-LAW race and Georgia (or less likely VAN or SLC), while the WC in the AC wildcards could go to two of 11 teams!

    Any predictions?

    nice analysis.

    things are very tight still.
    My best guesstimation is this

    AC
    Cleveland
    Houston
    WV
    Portland
    WC-Norfolk
    WC-Montreal

    NC
    Lansing
    Tulsa
    Newark
    Vancouver
    WC-Lawrence
    WC-Georgia

In the NC, Newark and Lawrence could very easily be swapped. I'm just putting myself there now as we are in the drivers seat. A win/loss combo this thursday changes the landscape.

Somebody has a complex. It hurts your feelings every time someone says anything good about the Seals?

If we beat Louisiana this week, and Pennsylvania loses to Murfreesboro, the division is locked up. If not, week 17 will get very interesting in our division.

I am still happy that we have done well overall this year with a rookie QB, and we seem to be at least a year ahead of schedule in the rebuild.

Don't shy away from a good game like that. We need this final game to be for the division. It's gonna be our playoffs game. Anyway, we're gonna get crushed in the 1st round
