GG Steve...well you can say our offense is exciting to watch but our defense is still a work in progress. I still need to figure out what route to go on defense and what to do with these LBs since we cant stop the opposing TE.
Hopefully we can turn it around and be pretty good...at least portland continues to lose.

Thanks for the nice words and just now got to watch our game. Mike, I agree with your assessment on the defenses ... mine didn't come onto the field unless you were in the red zone.Originally posted by Mike17 View PostWell, CLE/NFK lived up to the hype. It was definitely a showdown between Cavazos and Perkins, the 2 QBs seemed to almost move the ball at will. Either side's defenses seemed to shore up though once the other team crossed the 50. There were many drives that ended in long field goal attempts.
My special teams unit lost me the game today. We gave up several long returns including a punt return for a TD. That return TD ended up being the difference in the final score. We still had a chance to come back, though. Down by 7 with 2:18 left, Perkins stormed down the field and I thought we were going to overtime. But a INT in the redzone ended our comeback.
GG rook. Maybe I'll see you again come playoff time.
Can't say I'm not bummed about this one. It was an excellent game to watch, very well matched. But the great teams win games like this.
Making you kick field goals on three separate occasions (all inside the ten: once from the five and twice from the 6 yard line) was huge - and probably a bigger factor in the game result than the TD/PR (which, of course, was huge as well).
Your D was a bit more effective but like you said nothing to write home about. My field goals were all long Morris bombs ... 48, 50, 32 yards (and he just missed that 60 yarder at the end of the half). He is such a weapon for my offense when it decides to turns amoebic.
The last drive was classic ... I too thought that Perkins was going to tie the game and then win it in overtime (statistically, you had me beat all day long with the exception of 3rd down conversions). Well, then came the pick and you know the rest.
A good game to watch. A great GM to match wits with.
We just might meet again yet this year. That would be fun.
By the way, GREATER TEAMS win the re-match in the playoffs. I haven't been doing so well in that category lately but "hope springs eternal" here in Norfolk. GG

GG Tim. McNeil had another "hot" start, starting 11 for 11, on mostly short passes. Rex Richard could not get anything going.
Kind of a funny play from late in the game, Texas went for it on 4-17 from their own 1...
Texas: Pro formation, with the second receiver in the slot, strength is left. The defense is in a 43 with dime personnel and 2-deep bump-and-run coverage, keying aggressively on the pass.
4-17-TEX01 (4Q: 06:46) Rex Richard pass was intended for WR Joey Kelly and was intercepted by CB Ian Lucas at the TEX20. Tackled by Joey Kelly. The quarterback threw into double coverage.
I would have had the ball on the 1 except for stupid Lucas intercepting the pass instead of knocking it down!
Man, Oaktown has come out of the gate strong, not a good sign.
Congrats SLC for getting their first win, hopefully we can stop their momentum next week.

Thanks for the props but we just can't seem to get out of the way of ourselves. Felt like we won the stat war but we get killed 28-17. Oakland is going to be tough!!Originally posted by Jave View PostMmmm, Orlando's loaded with talent. Next week is gonna be a tough game. Gonna have to really come up with a great gameplan.

I am still scratching my head on how we won. I guess my stud CB Hamilton's pick 6 helped lift us up.Originally posted by Pirates View PostThanks for the props but we just can't seem to get out of the way of ourselves. The growing pains of a rookie QB are evident at the moment.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish. Remember the season I went to the Imperial bowl, I started out 3-0, then lost 4 straight. I gave up at that point and just rexed the rest of the season. I went on to win 8 of 9, and including the playoffs, 11 of 13. Starting out 1-2 means jack crap, and in my case, 3-0. I'm not one bit psyched about my record right now. It means nothing. One week at a time.Originally posted by Matt View Postwe suck this year. nuff said.

Agree one hundred thousand percent with Jave on his point. Its all about how well the team is playing at the end of the season. Wins in the beginning are nice of course but mean almost nothing if your gas pedal doesn't get a reaction in the final weeks of the regualr season.
