He's not getting paid $10 million. He's only getting paid $3.79 million. They've already been paid the bonus when they signed the contract. Now you're sticking it to him by not wanting to pay him more than $3mil?

Do cap out offers piss the player off at all? I'm gonna have to throw SOMEONE a cap out to sign all my rookies. I'm not gonna cap out someone I plan on keeping if it's like franchising them and they are reluctant to resign.

"Cap out" is an offer so I don't think it'd piss anyone off. The Franchise Tag is a one way decision by the GM which is why it pisses players off.

In the NFL guys like Peyton Manning get treated like they are really doing something special when they turn base pay into bouns $$$. Fans have no clue that player is not sacraficing at all. I have tried to explain it too people but they think I don't know anything cause the local media makes this act almost on par with charity work in the community.

Too your question I have used it and never noticed anything bad from it. I wish my boss would CAP me out for the next decade - I am sure I would develop crippling carparl tunnel syndrome though - lol

This is the Torres factor. Ever since I paid him 10 million a year all DT's look at his salary as the bench mark. I am bummed he is at the end. He was the king.
