2017 IFL OWNER AWARDS
Most Valuable Player
QB Gene Hamilton, Pennsylvania Lions
In his 14th season, one of the perenial great Quarterbacks in IFL history finally claimed his championship. In leading the Lions to championship Hamilton eclipsed the 5000 yard passing mark for the 3rd time in his career while tossing more than 40 touchdowns for the 3rd time in his career. One of the few remaining IFL originals, Hamilton went into overdrive in week 13 en route to a path of destruction rarely seen in football history. Only once in their last 8 games did Pennsylvania fail to score 30 points including 3 straight playoff routes that earned him the Championship game MVP. This is Hamiltons second MVP award.

Defensive Player Of The Year
CB Jeremy Hickman, Iowa City Snipe Hunters
In just his second year in the league, the 10th overall pick in the 2016 draft produced one of the most stellar seasons in IFL history by a cornerback. His 6 interceptions, 2 of which were returned for touchdowns were impressive. Perhaps more impressive was the almost complete inability for opposing QB's to throw against him. His 92.3% pass defense percentage was redonkulous. All that being said, the race for this award was very tight and Louisians Phillip George finished second and should also be noted for him impressive season.
Offensive Rookie Of The Year
RB Sherman Gerhardt, Vermont Mountaineers
In a close multi man race for this award, the 12th overall pick of the 2017 draft picked up honors thanks to his 1033 yard season and 4.38 ypc. Gerhardt helped Vermont to a 10-6 record and narrowly missed the playoffs in a stacked National Conference.
Defensive Rookie Of The Year
CB Phillip George, Louisiana Voodoo
The 2nd overall pick in the 2017 draft, King George immediately staked his claim as one of the leagues top cornerbacks. Not only did George run away with this award but he narrowly lost out on the DPOTY award. His 5 interceptions and over 90% PDPct put teams on notice that throwing to his side of the field is a dangerous game.
Special Teams Player Of The Year
K Chuck Morris, Norfolk Vipers
41-45 on the season, Morris had one of the best seasons ever for a kicker. Morris didn't miss a kick under 40 yards all season and went 4-6 of kicks over 50 yards.
Executive Of The Year
Chris Rex, Montreal Firebirds
A very close vote between Chris and lasy years winner Cy Young, this award puts the cap on Chris's long build towards compiling a winning team. Long an also ran franchise, 2017 finally saw the Firebirds break through. Their 13-3 record and American Conference championship put the rest of the league on notice that Montreal was now a perenial Imperial Bowl contender.
