It took awhile but....

It seems that finally, interest seems to be fading in the Front Office Football 2004 multiplayer leagues. I am noticing a sharp decrease in participation in the multiplayer leagues, which means, a decrease in interest in the game overall. I still love the game, and will be here for a long ass time, but, is anyone else noticing this? And, more importantly, is Jim noticing?

It's the holidays, so it's pretty hard to get any sort of grasp on things.

Only a handful of guys don't seem to be checking the boards daily here and most, if not all of them, are the ones that have been on vacation.

Things are looking very good for the second season of the ImperialFL. Unfortunately for some owners, I think their lack of involvement in the offseason will be quite noticeable and bite them in the rear as so.

funny you would post this since some TPF commish has decided to start a FOF league, atleast that is what i just read on FOFC.

says he has 10 owners, and since it looks like NFL teams it may fill up because for some reason more guys like those.... :roll:

I think this kind of sucks because I have been hoping 1 or 2 leagues would go away (one in particular that I think has been a joke most of the time it has been around). These leagues would be even better if there were not so many that guys got into 5 of them when they can't handle it. I understand some guys can, but most can't and end up getting into a league and then dropping out.

As far as interest fading, I am not sure of that either. Holidays have slowed things down for sure, but the last two teams were filled with out much selling on my part, and I have a guy who emailed me a couple days ago wanting team who is new to FOF.

I think natural selection will take its course. If the new league is run really well, it will stay around and some other one will die if there is not enough demand, maybe that 'joke' one you are talking about. If people are in too many, they will end up gravitating to the best leagues and the crappier leagues will die out.

This league seems to be really great though, and very active. The only drawback that I see here is the slow pace of the season, with only one game a week, but I assume that appeals to a lot of people so it has its niche.

I think the FOFC forums are less than adequate though. The off-topic stuff has taken over, where there are only a few threads on FOF in the general discussion area, and nobody posts in the strategies section. This would be fine, except it makes it hell on new players when they are trying to find out information about the game. I would love to just read through the old threads that deal with FOF, but I have to wade through page after page of OT stuff and it just isn't worth it. I understand the importance of the community aspect, but IMO it should be separate from the game information, because that is why new members come to the forum. Forums like that should attract people because of the knowledge, and ensnare people because of the community.

Yeah, this is a slower league, but that was the main reason behind starting it. Not only does it fit my schedule well, but there are many guys who like the slower pace, and feel more into the league because of that. I guess that is the one thing to set us apart and some like it, some don't.

As far as FOFC, I can see how that sucks to come upon for a new guys trying to get tips on the game. MP has kind of killed some of the strategy talk, since some guys just don't like to give things away.

(BTW, not sure how new to FOF you are, but if you have any questions feel free to get me on AIM, Cringer63. I am always willing to answer questions about the game, and what this or that is and how you can get certian things to work. If I know that is, I definetly don't know it all. But I have helped guys new to the game a bunch in the past, and still perfectly willing to do that.)

Exports

As long as Commish is getting a good amount of exports, 80-90 percent each week then everything is all good to me. Some people only have time to gameplan and do what is necessary.
