  • 2010 NFL Predictions

Anyone got any predictions for this season? I think I picked Minnesota and Baltimore in the Superbowl last year - which actually was a step above my usual picks. I think this year is going to be pretty wild.

AFC - It is hard not seeing the Colts not making it to the superbowl again. I think the Jets are over-rated. Baltimore's offense is better but their defense is getting old. New England also has some problems on defense. San Diego keeps losing key players. Cincinnati looks pretty solid on both sides of the ball - they may be a darkhorse. And of course you can't count the Steelers out when Roethlisberger returns. Guess I gotta go with the Colts.

NFC - Assuming we aren't going to have a superbowl repeat - which would be really odd - I have to pick someone other than the Saints. Packers seem to have made a jump past Minnesota on a lot of people's lists. Like most everyone, I have a tough time seeing Favre repeating the same level of success as last year. But the Vikings are still pretty loaded. Dallas is another option, but I'm not sure about their defense. No one else really jumps out - I actually think Derek Anderson might have a decent year in Ariz - since he has the WRs - they might be able to hold off San Fran. out west. I think Philly is a little too optimistic about Kolb's ability to replace McNabb but I could easily be wrong.

I'm going with the Vikings. It seems like teams (outside San Diego) that come up just short one year often make it the next.

Surprise wildcard teams: Detroit and Kansas City?

You never know in the NFL man. There is usually a worst to first story. AFC West isn't exactly strong either.

I could be. If Cassell excels i think they have a shot. He's got a potential all-pro WR in Bowe and Chambers isn't a slouch. They have a potential excellent running game with Charles and Jones. I don't really know anything about their o-line, it could be a problem. And they've had so many high picks on defense recently that it seems to finally coming around. Vrabel and Hali as LBs is pretty nice.

Titans will reclaim the AFCS then lose at home 10-8 to the j-e-t-s, who will promptly be stomped by NE 59-3 who will lose to SD in the AFCS.

In the NFC the Giants will pull it out of their butts somehow, but then lose to the Chargers.

Of course I could be wrong - all except the Titans winning the AFCS

                Playoff teams.

                AFC: Steelers, Pats, Chargers, Colts
                WC: Ravens, Jets

                NFC: Saints, Packers, 49ers, Giants
                WC: Cowboys, Vikings

                I'm feeling a Steelers/Packers superbowl .

It may be my imagination, but it seems like the NFC might be becoming more competitive than the AFC for the first time in like 20 years.

Colts are going down, not sunday though. Playing Houston is like an auto win for the ponies. Mooston just implodes against them.

Vikings are done. You heard it here first. They are playing safeties at corner due to injury. Their LT just got hurt and without Sidney Rice Favre can't find anyone to throw to. He looked incredibly old and fragile against the Saints. Bummer, I was high on them, but not now.

I think from the AFC it is going to come down to the Colts and Pats. I like the Jets but they are way, way over hyped. They have a huge problem on the O line at LG. Some games are going to come down to the Sanchize having to win them and he is not there yet.

In the NFC it is all Saints and Packers. Pretty much a toss up between the two of them.
                    That is all I got.

Yea, Favre didn't look at all comfortable behind his line and his receivers were absolute crap. But I agree.....unless he can calm down Favre is going to have a horrible year. He rushed throws, ran around and made some awful decisions. And I couldn't believe when the Saints started running the ball at will against the Vikings. What a game!

Waaay too early to write off the Vikes (as long as McKinnie is okay). How many teams are going to go into NO and look good on opening night?

Considering how the Saints STARTED the game, I think it's a testament to the Vikings that they actually made a game out of it. It went from 'oh man, this is gonna be a blow out' to having to watch all 4 quarters.

Man they need a WR. Sidney is gone for 8 weeks and won't be the same right away. I just don't see anyone emerging suddenly for Favre. They can run, but Childress is an idiot. He opens the half throwing for 0-7 when they started covering Shiancoe with Safety? C'mon run the damn ball. They were never out of the game. Ridiculous play calling.

Their secondary is hurting too. Have you seen their schedule from week 5-8?
                            Jets-Dallas-GB-NE. Tough run for them.

I had an impossible time concentrating after the blackness that shuck my conciencnous after this post!

The AFC is currently standing on the "wish I had" podium after a recent "more than you" streak coming on the heels of a 12-14 year "The NFC Championship IS the Super Bowl by anyone paying attention" streak that PROVED itself EVERY season of the streak. The AFC has a long way to go before it's head approaches in long term talks...
