this town is going crazy today ...

TV coverage has started at noon and will continue to game time.

All city businesses and many schools closed.

Bill board sign outside the Dome has picture of Farve which reads "Sept 9 - Bret Farve's Retirement Party."

A parade kicks off around 4 PM.

Brees has created a new chant for this season. At the end he us suppose to raise his hand which (according the news media) is his signal for the crowd to end the chant by screaming "who dat" three times. Chant supposedly will be in center of field rather than on sideline.

Atmosphere is in usual New Orleans party mode ... just started a little earlier in the day.

Football atmosphere in the south is awesome. A different experience than anywhere else. I spent some time in Georgia a while back. Everyone wore red on Saturdays...everyone.

Much different here in the North.

Yea, try living in Alabama. Only place I've ever seen where it's ok to watch the game while your supposed to be working. The frikkin supervisors sit and watch with ya.

I dont know Beez. I went to an Iowa game this weekend. All you saw was gold. We staarted tailgating at 7 am for an 11 oclock game. There was probably 100,000 people tailgating. The stadium seats 70k.
My wife had never been to a college football game and was in shock and amazed by the happenings.
When I went to the 2002 Orange Bowl 45000 + from Iowa showed up. It looked like Kinnick Stadium South. All you saw was Black and Gold.

I would say it depends on your area in the North. Iowa has no pro sports, so Iowa athletics is it. That probably isnt the case where there is pro sports or terrible programs.

Sports were waaaay bigger in Boston (NE) than Albuquerque (South). I was actually told that I need to "get a life" the other week when I expressed interest in the upcoming NFL season.

Albuquerque is a U.S. metropolis that doesn't have a single major sports team... very strange atmosphere for me and my upbringing... lot of big name MMA fighters from here though.

Whenever I hear 'who dat' or 'who dey', my eye twitches. It makes people sound ignorant. I have nothing against either of those teams at all.. its just annoying as all hell.

GM tarcone and Mrs. tarcone are preparing for tonights game. tarcone likes to join the crowd in the north endzone. This is the rowdy part of the always rambunctious stadium.

It just occurred to me that I don't even know who the owner of the Mules is. Is he active?

Hey Tarcone. Good luck. Hoping for a bloodbath on both sides, but have a feeling we won't have the punch needed to keep up with Sanford. We'll see. Made some bend but don't break kind of defensive gameplanning changes. Hopefully, it works.

I knew we didn't have a change in Tulsa. Good game Tarcone. We just aren't anywhere near as good as we were three years ago. Good luck the rest of the way.

Gun to my head, I KNEW we were gonna lose this one.

What I didn't expect is how absolutely inept my D would become.

Overnight we went from one of the best pass Ds in the league to starting the game allowing Penn to go 11/12 for 145 yards.

It's like we weren't even playing.

Ah well, at least Madison Won :-)

                                Congrats, Penn

Oh, chalk up another F-Birds injury. Opening play, I believe. Again.
