Wow , I never expected to get "game of the week" honors this early in the season. Honestly, the jury is still out on how good or bad the Vipers will be this season.
It would have been nice to have flown under the radar a little more.
The real story is that the Vipes went to the playoffs last year with one of the poorest rated QBs .... and now we have replaced that deficiency with Cavazos. So, the questions remain on how he and the new version of the game will impact last season's performance.
I preferred to gradually integrate Cavazos' play into a new Viper gameplan, unnoticed over several weeks .... but no ... the press gotta blow smoke out their butts right off the bat. Guess we'll find out what we are all about on Sunday vs. Vancouver. Can't disappoint when the world is watching.

This is a first for me of course - I guess VAN probably had a game of the week or two in years past. Not sure if the team is ready for prime time. Will the team rise to the occasion or play like fish (or large mammals) out of water?
I would threaten to knock Cavazos out of the game a la New Orleans, but with his sense rush I'm not sure we can get close to him.
I'm leaving a Pennsylvania hotel this morning and continuing my drive to New Mexico. Unfortunately last night when I Checked In I turned on my iMac and thought "If the games were tomorrow then I'd have to take another loss. I'm just too tired to gameplan after all this driving". If I don't get a gameplan in by tomorrow's games can someone just set my starters playing time to "recommend" instead of the pre-season 60% for everyone?
If so, cool. If not, then I guess it'll just make the Phantoms 2016 Championship video that much more dramatic.

In news off the field on the day after the Super Bowl ... Vipers QB Jon Cavazos and Vipers were recently spotted at a popular golf course outside of the Disney resorts in Orlando. We found out later that it was no coincidence that Saints Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees was also in town on the same day, filming a commercial for Disney World.
Vipers GM r00k keeps a home outside of New Orleans in the IFL off season. Last summer, he had the occasion to introduce his offseason prize quarterback to Brees. Since that time, the two signal callers have developed quite a friendship. So, it was no surprise that we found Brees and his head coach, Sean Payton, in a foursome with Cavazos and r00k.
In the clubhouse, Payton mentioned that there was a side bet between Brees and Cavazos ... with the loser having to take on a new "nick name" of the winner's choice.
Then Payton grinned as he reported that Brees had bested Cavazos, "In honor of our New Orleans Saints' and our Super Bowl Championship, Drew has christened the Vipers new QB as: Jon "Who Dat" Cavazos.
Cavazos smiled, "I can't complain about a name that has some wonderful magic associated with it and I am sure the fans in Norfolk will embrace this tie with New Orleans with incredible enthusiasm. I use to envy the Vipers fan base and attendance records (Norfolk has led the IFL in attendance for the last eight years). Now that I am here in Norfolk, I can benefit from the 81,900 seat stadium that is sold out for the current season. Who dat!"
