I think there needs to be some actual punishment involved in the breaking of this rule come next season. Late draft pick would make the most sense.

If there is a penalty, why not release the player as opposed to voiding the contract. Then you get the lost cap plus the guy wont sign with that team again.

Im not sure if there is a cap penalty when a contract is voided.
