I still can't believe he hasn't put something in the game to try and let us re-sign our coaches who are like 1-2 years away from FA. The coaching system is really retarded right now, but that would make it a shit ton better.

I'd like to see more balance in the way ratings are distributed so that we'd have reason to go after the good teams OCs and DCs for HC jobs. Maybe have the HC areas grayed out when a coach is in a coordinator position.

I may be wrong but I don't think any NFL coaches are "E" in one area and "P" in another. You get to be a great DLine coach by having OLine knowledge as well... Know your enemy so to speak.

Yea I picked all these guys when they were, average, average, average, good, good, average. I took a chance they would develop. Would be nice if I was able to at least get first shot at hiring them.

Darn it! I like my coaching staff, and was wondering if there was a way to renegotiate with my OC - but this thread just answered my question.

Yep. No way to get a coach before he is a FA, so to speak. Once his contract is up, it's just open season and they just sign with the highest bidder.
Later, Ricardo Redd. I hope you fucking rot in LA.

damn you Cy..Lentz was a lock to return to the Ogres. the fact that he moves within the division just makes it hurt that much more.

I think the first stage of staff hiring should be for resigning only UNLESS someone wants to give a coordinator a head coach job. ( just my meaningless opinion)

I agree, but not the way game is set up.

I just don't see a coach packing up and moving for a lateral move to a team with much the same record for the exact same position..as in the case with Redd. No offense LA, but I can see him wanting to work for a NWK or LAN or LAW, but to leave for 80k more a year and pretty much the same W/L record....Makes no sense and not that realistic.
But with no way to negotiate contracts until their up I guess this will continue to happen.

it is flawed, however teams like mine are at a huge advantage. Because the economics of the game were not equal, I make a shitload of money.

I can then offer the most money, and get any coach I want. That is not fair........but it's the way it is.
In another league I'm in, all's I've done is win. Year after year. I still lose $80mil a season...........which means I can't get the best coaches, and am at the mercy of other teams.
If we had started a new 2k7 game we would've had the opportunity to have all equal economic situations. In that case, I assume the good teams make money and can afford to spend more on coaches.
I don't like the coaching system either. technically, I should be able to sign any coordinator to a HC whether he's under contract or not.
