  • Question for the Elite FOFer

If you are moving a guy to a new position, let's say I have this friend who wants to move a rookie DT to DE. Anyways on the screen it says he should remain the same but he should lose weight first. So, the question is does it matter if I move him pre weight loss or post weight loss? Basically, before TC or after?

    Thanks for any help.

I don't have the factual answer that you're looking for but I can tell you that I've wondered that same thing before, including this off-season with Wollmuth, and I always delay the weight training if the prediction to new position is positive (stays the same or increases). I was burned early on (maybe FOF 2K4) by doing the weight training first and then a year later I got a different story on the position change. My opinion now is to strike when the iron's hot on the projected positional change result since it seems unpredictable to me and you might not get a 2nd chance.

On the other hand if the prediction is for a significant drop then I'd change the player's weight and try again the next season on the position swap.

I turned DT Roman Troutman from DE to DT. I noticed he was a heavy DE and had a void at DT. I drafted him with the intention of moving him.

I moved him before TC, then used weight training to get him up to weight. I always recommend changing positions before the first rookie TC. You rarely take a hit when changing amongst position groups.

I think Cringer changed Shane Bryant from a G to a LT, and also did a LB to DE. CAn't remember the guys name, but he retired recently............I think

And I believe the legend goes he made that pick from his cell phone while working and stated he was making the change to LT when selecting him much like Ruth pointing towards the outfield fence.

I've never understood how he knew Bryant would make the switch and still don't know what to look for in OLinemen for position switches outside of height/weight. I want that knowledge!!

Cronin was the DE, and he never had the prettiest ratings as a DE but performed pretty good most of the time. Bryant happened and was planned mainly because I was in dire need of a LT and by the end of the first round the studs were gone there. Bryant started at LT the second he was on my team and thankfully he worked out because those first 2-3 years he was developing what seemed like a snail pace and I thought he would bust at some point.

That was with FOF 2004 though and weight changes were not part of that if I recall correctly. As for the question I would do the change if you want it, then do the suggested weight gain/decrease. If I recall there is a chance I player performs better if he fits the ideal size for that position. Not to say small RBs or small OT won't do well, but it's better for them if they are closer to ideal size.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

A lesson that I just relearned for the 7th time or so: If changing a rookies position you need to offer him the high/short contract right out of the gate to guarantee being able to change his weight for THAT season.

I'm now stuck with my rookie CB->SS at his original weight since he's not currently signed.

if i have cap room, i always go to option 4 because of this. If they don't sign the first contract, then you're a year behind in weight training.
