Another year, another draft that moves painfully slow.

I know the draft hasn't 'officially' started yet, but right now we're waiting on someone who has made 2 posts in the past month, and honestly wouldn't shock me if he took the complete allotted time each pick when the clock does start.

This league usually has great participation, but each draft there seem to be a handful of people who just drag the process down. Last year I believe we had something crazy like 2 picks in a 10 hour span, and it wouldn't shock me in the least if something similar happened this year.

There is almost no penalty for missing picks, so people don't really see the draft as important and have no problem logging in once a day (if that) when they know they're on the clock soon. They know if they miss their pick, they'll still get a pretty good player drafted for them.

I say if they can't make their pick in the huge amount of time given to them to make it, they should be rewarded with some random guy towards the bottom of the draft list. Enough of this carebear shit, giving them upwards of 4 hours to pick is generous, but if they can't make the pick in that time, fuck em.

I agree to a point. I ususally try and pay attention, but if there is a run of picks it can catch anyone off guard. I think the current penalties for missing a pick should be given a shot. 1st offense is a reduction in draft time and eventually you just get scout drafted or something. Seems pretty good. I bet draft finished by early thursday anyways.

lol - hey look at it this way at the latest 1.16 will be picked by what 10:00 monday morning or something, and 1.17 is in the draft utility so even in worst case scenarion thats 2 hours a pick to start the timed portion.

Listen, I understand the frustration, but I absolutely refuse to impose penalties during an untimed period.

Next year we will not have an umtimed period, we will start on the alloted day and i'll do my best to get a general consenus on when the best day of the week that is.

peronally i think Vito should be shown the door. i'm not frustrated about how the draft has progressed, i think the pace thus far has been solid (of course i'm done with drafting till the 5th round so that could be part of it). but Vito hardly participates and hasn't had any kind of presence here in many seasons. posting once or twice a month is nothing. this isn't a case of Vito wanting to use all of his allotted time to make a trade - he simply hasn't checked in enough to know where we are. he can do SP if this is what he wants.

Yea, I know this is an untimed period, so I wouldn't expect anything right now. We both know this same thing will happen during the timed period, and there is a 95% chance it'll happen every SLC pick, just like most drafts.

I don't know how updated the list is, but we still have 3 teams yet to check into the draft utility. If you can't even do that, why even be in a league?

This is a very casual league with 1 game a week, so it's almost unfair to ask people to be aggressive during draft time, however we all know how it is. My suggestion would be for people to get 'sitters' if they know they're not going to be very active during drafts (like a Vito). I know Vito has been in the league forever, so i'm not a fan of just booting him w/o working something out first, but this isn't the first time he's been awol during drafts, and it won't be the last.

A sitter would be the best situation for him. Almost like a backup GM he works with to make these picks and moves during times when hes' awol and on the clock.

i agree with the sitter idea. someone like Vito couldn't complain about it or say he would want to make his own picks, cuz if he cared that much this wouldn't be happening.

Oh ye of little faith. Listen guys, slowly but surely we are implementing stuff to curb long waits. I can be here all day saturday and sunday, so can you guys, but some guys cant. Realisticly it was like a 6 hour wait on an untimed Sunday, is it really that frustrating? I mean I understand if it is, I just don't see the need for exsasperation. Do I agree with some of the stuff you're saying, yes. That's why I'm going to implement a "not registered, on auto pick" rule for next years draft. Combined with the shorter time limits and 50% reduction rule we should be able to pull stragglers along.

I like the ideas there Sui... I think that is a great move...

But again this is untimed. If I want I can sit on my pick until Monday and should not get dinged. The fact that we are this far into a untimed draft should make many happy... I mean I have seen it where we were untimed for days not just a weekend and did not get to the 3rd pick...

Its untimed we should relax and get our lists ready for tomorrow.
