  • About the trade that has been vetoed.

the Minnesota Vikings in 1989 traded their 1993 Draft pick to the Dallas cowboys. Just throwing that out there when I say how crappy it is to have the future of my franchise shot in front of the fireing squad over a questionable rule.

Homey, there is no questionable rule.

you cannot trade a pick that is not in the game.

Point being here is its allowed in the NFL. Why not the IFL. I am around as a long term owner esp if I am going out and trying to get franchise players.

          We're not in the NFL

An NFL Owner will not give all his picks to try to win and then quit the team. The financial loss would be terrible.

The rule is to protect the league against a guy who would come here and destroy the team future and quit the year after.

I'm not saying it's the case for you, I'm just explaining the reason for this rule.

HOW COULD DRAFTING THIS GUY DESTROY THE TEAM???

            ABSOLUTELY NUTS!

            btw.

in that trade the vikings had picks in 90 91 92 and 93 on the trade.

            http://min.scout.com/2/11653.html

may have been one of the worst trades in history seeming as who the cowboys got and what kinda player the vikings got. BUT point being NFL allows this. I am here long term. This is what i wanted to do with MY picks and MY franchise.

We have battled this in many leagues and throwing in NFL comparisons are just not valid. We are a fantasy league and have to have some rules in place that are for the greater good. Sometimes you have to just role with the group decision. Trust me we thought long and hard about that rule and most leagues have it in place, so you can see the importance of it.

On a sidenote regarding the Vikings trade, doesnt that show the folly in giving up a ton for one guy?

not when its a new player who has a whole career ahead of himself I dont think so.

The rule should be amended then we need to look at this on case to case basis its not like I traded 2017 2018 2019 and like 7 picks in those 3 years. I did what I needed to do because i didnt have a 2015 1st rounder. If I did BELIEVE ME this wouldnt even be talked about right now.

Even if you throw 100 examples of the NFL, it doesn't change the the rules of the IFL. In the NFL, you can steal an offensive coordinator from another team to hire him as a head coach, but we can't in Front office football. In he NFL, you can give roster bonus to players, but you can't in FOF. In the NFL you can sign a restricted free agent from another team, we can't in FOF. And exactly like that, you can trade future picks more than 3 years later in the NFL, but not in FOF.

This rule was there before you made this trade and you should've known it. It doesn't prevent you from making your deal for he 1st pick, but you have to do it within the rules.

These rules were there before you came to the league and you know we'll not change it in the middle of the offseason like that. If you don't agree with it, ask the commish to revisit this rule and we'll vote on that later during he season.

In Hollywood Brad Pitt gets to bang Angelina Jolie, I wanna cyber bang Angelina Jolie. Which one of you will play the part of Angelina Jolie?

We don't allow trading of picks outside of the game, you can still run your franchise however you like, just like the 31 other owners.

oh wheels are already in motion Suicane. I am just going to have to trade a star for 1.9 to get this deal done instead of the 2017 1st rounder.

Mercury Halbert looked like he was going to be a near perfect receiver, and the trade to get him that draft was 3 straight years worth of 1st rounders.

Needless to say, Halbert didn't turn out the way we thought he may, the owner of the team quit a season or so later and the new owner was left with a receiver who never quite lived up to expectations, and no first rounders for a few years.

So just like Halbert, while it may look like you have a surefire hall of famer on your hands, you can never really tell.

And like Cy Young pointed out, this is just a game. If that pick turns into a bust, you can very easily just wash your hands of the team and never be heard from again. There is no accountability like there is in the NFL. If you fuck up there, you risk your entire career. You can't just change screen names and join a different league. Plus, even if a team does fuck up, and the GM gets fired, there is always someone ready and willing to take over that project. It's not so easy in a computer simulation game. Suicane and Matt have to look out for the best of the league, not just one team.

That's why you can't really compare the NFL to the IFL with certain rules.

EXACTLY!! I can tell for fact I will NEVER vote for a rule that could destroy a franchise. While the owner could just bail, this hurts the league as much as the franchise. There's a reason these rules are in place, to PROTECT THE LEAGUE AND THE FRANCHISE. The IFL has been around a long time and these rules are here for a reason. Just make the trade within the rules and get that bad ass Quarterback. If you don't I will.....
