Posting as a reminder of last year's change to our constitution ... especially for any new managers ...

2a. Yearly Bonus Rule For One and Two Year Deals:
The yearly bonus amount in one-year AND two-year deals offered to free agents cannot exceed the yearly amount of salary. Here is an example of a contract that is illegal.

    Total Bonus - 8 million
    Year 1 Salary = 2 million, Year 1 Bonus = 4 million
    Year 2 Salary = 2 million, Year 2 Bonus = 4 million

The maximum total bonus allowed with those salaries would be 4 million (two million in year 1 and year 2).

Any contract that violates this rule will be voided during the next sim.

    good hunting to all

Yes but the bonus can't be higher in any individual year.

So a $1M bonus and $400k in year 1 and $700k in year 2 would be invalid since year 1's bonus would be higher despite the whole bonus being under 50% of the contract.

I think salary can't double in any successive year but I ignored that rule since I'm a rather balanced contract guy.

So if a team offers a deal of 3 years or more to a FA, this rule does not apply. Is that correct?

just read the IFL constitution and looks like 3 year deals are not restricted and I found no mention of year to year salary restrictions.

                  Could have missed something though.

                    we do monitor all contracts

                    CONTRACTS/THE SALARY CAP:
                    A) Any contract handed out to an Imperial League player can be subject to review by the League Administration. If a contract is deemed unsportsmanlike by the administration, they may force a reworking of it or rip it up all together and release the player that is contracted. A very severe violation may result in additional penalites or the expulsion of the violating owner.
                    B) Teams must be under the salary cap at the conclusion of "early" free agency. This is to ensure that teams do not lose draft picks they are set up to use in the utility. Violating teams will have league-mandated cuts made for them. Additional penalties may apply depending on how far over the cap the teams are.
                    C) The League Administration reserves the right to seize any team it deems to be in very severe cap trouble. This would only be done as a last resort to preserve the integrity of the team and league. In such an event an emergency committee would be formed and a solution as to how to move forward with the troubled team would be determined as a whole. Additional penalties, including owner expulsion, could be handed out if such an instance occurs.

I could have sworn i remembered the '50 percent rule' so people did not do base salaries as:

                      1,300,000
                      1,900,000
                      7,800,000

Just to pad the numbers and squeeze out a signing. I know the game also doesnt let stuff that blatant through sometimes, but wasnt there a thread on this?
