My defensive line took a hit with the loss of Lofton. And 3 of my 4 retirees came from the d line.
My offensive line loses its leader in tackle Tony Esqueda. I figured I would lose him, but I was hoping for one more year.
On the bright side of things, two WRs are leaving the game and the division. Good bye to Grady Gomez and Randolph Kennedy. You wont be missed in Tulsa.

Bennett Jones finally hangs it up after a good career with the VooDoo and then bouncing around the league for a few after. Good to see he could come home for a year then retire with the team it all started with. He is currently in the top 10 all-time rushing yardage with over 10,000 rushing yards and had 7 consecutive seasons with 1,000+. Good bye and good day Mr. Jones. Thanks for the memories.

GM r00k and Head Coach Tyrell have had some very long discussions with Finger in the last few years. All believed the talks were centered on the organization's encouragement for him to retire and even though Norfolk has announced its irrevokable intent to actively start its rebuilding program, the scuttlebutt is that Lozier wants to put on the cleats for yet another year.

Today, Coach Tyrell spoke for all three, "This team's legacy goes beyond one man; however, Finger is a special type of player and it is his desire to continue to contribute to whatever the organization feels best. Finger understands and accepts that this is a rebuilding era, and he has commited to our single task, as he put its himself - "then rebuild it will be."

When Norfolk initially signed Lozier (out of Idaho fourteen seasons ago), he admitted that he was sitting in the caboose when God passed out the grey cells (intelligence = 2) but admonished to all that his shortcomings upstairs were always made up through his good judgement to follow other's advice. His first coach in the IFL (Coach Mooberry -newly crowned IFL Champ ) developed a simple system in his rookie year that utilized the signal calling from his all-star pitching days at Idaho. Norfolk's Offensive Coordinator would simply hold up two fingers to run the ball and one finger to pass the ball. And thus the nickname, Finger, emerged. Granted he has become more fluent in his offensive playcalling today, but he still fervently relies on his coaches advice and wishes.

Lozier will now give all four fingers and a thumb in his part to give a "hand" in this rebuilding year especially in a time to keep the home town fans at bay. Norfolk fans have been very spoiled in past years and low rumblings of discontent are already emerging from the shadows which began after Norfolk failed to make the playoffs this year - and this being for the first time in nine years.

"Bottom line - I am very much ok with my new role and hope that I can help the wonderful fans in Norfolk to understand that rebuilding will once again bring them to past levels and a new era that will not be led by me. But first you must rebuild and to that end I will commit. If it brings some disappointment of Sundays, so be it. If it brings some early success, well that will be just icing on the cake .... and I always like putting my finger in the icing!"
