  • Your Starting a New Franchise

The IFL has decided to expand. You get one of the new franchises. You can choose 1 player off of each team. Who is you #1 pick? He will be your franchise guy, he will be the foundation. Who do you choose? Why?

If I had to choose, my intentions would to go with a QB. That said, I think I would choose Portland Seal, Jay Caro. To me, he is just simply the best player in the Imperial Football League

THis is kind of like the 'trade for anyone you want' thread, but I guess it is different enough to change my answer. I agree with Prick Carucci (just teasing Vic) and say Caro.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

I pick Caro too^^ To me this would always have to be a QB.

Your going to START a franchise with a guy already in his 8th year in the league? No f'n way. I would pick my own player, Doyle. Rookie, rated 87. Shutdown corner. Easy decision.

Id go Caro too. he may be an 8 year vet, but QB's can last a long time.

If not a QB, id look for a young stud at DE or CB, in that order.

                Brenton Palmieri!!

                Seriously: Kim Cortez.

Interesting that even Hamilton's own GM would take Caro over him. I'm gonna have to look at those two more closely. Last time I checked I thought Hamilton was a good 10-15% better than Caro when all things I could think of were considered. But when so much of the IFL disagrees I gotta second guess myself and take another look.

I'd love to be an expansion team in the IFL and get to choose from the 5 extended players on each team like the Texans!

Sort of. But this is more "you are starting fresh" as opposed to "who in the league fits my system"

I would look at Singleton. A running game would help in the early stages of a franchise. A young RB is something to build around.

Crap, you seem to love Cortez. Do you have 3 1st rounders you want to give up for him?

Yes, the small difference which is why I changed from Singleton/Osborne to Caro for this one. As for your answer of Singleton though, I couldn't go there I don't think. It would really depend if I knew if I would be able to build a respectable enough line to block for a RB, I went with the assumption that I wouldn't and so the QB would be the better way to go.

I think I would go with RJ Kley. I know it's not the ideal position, but facing this guy 2 times a year gives me a special appreciation for him.

i guess Dennis Collela and his 57 week injury didn't get that memo.

i guess i should change that to WHEN HEALTHY qbs can last a long time. their shelf life is much longer then a stud RB.
