My how the great have fallen. I think our 2 games last year were considered "game of the week's". Now the Newark v. Lawrence game is far down the list. Despite that, it's still Lawrence week in Newark. The anticipation of another epic battle, where despite it being early in the season, is a must win game. Both Newark and Lawrence (even Vermont for that matter) need to make sure Orlando doesn't run away with the division.

Things are a little different. Little Rock and Texas in an undefeated battle, both at 5-0.

It is actually cool to see a Given-Chung rivalry start near the end of their careers that actually means something. It started last year with the Toad win over Texas in week 17 to win the division, and then Texas beat us the next week in the WC game.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

At the time last year's narrow luck-propelled win over Texas seemed like a wake-up call against a wild card team. Now it seems they sneakily turned into a powerhouse late last season.

Obviously going to be a great game between you two this week!

Phantoms play 10 games this season to the same team in the same week that we played in 2009. We haven't started off the same but I'd sure like to finish in similar fashion as we did then.

I tweaked the gameplan again. I changed my 3rd down defensive philosophy. I rarely stop a 3rd down and never on my goal line.
I changed some things on offense as well. Im looking forward to the results tomorrow.
Vermont is never a team to take lightly.

wow, that was ugly with a capital U.

Sorry to see the Phantoms lose a game like that. Greene dropped balls left and right, and Stanfield was throwing to the wrong team. That "shoulda been" FG at the end of the 1st half for Lawrence changed the game.

Congrats TimG, that was one heck of a game. I knew once you took the lead it was pretty much over for me, though I had a chance with two minutes left and the ball at my own 6 yard line. Throwing an 8 yard pass on 4th and 15 doesn't win a game though.

Things looked good for us in the first half, with two turnovers created on defense, and the young CBs holding their own. In the second half though the young CBs started to fold and that 61 yard TD pass was the dagger in my team. Always rough to watch a lead slip away.

I will say one thing that killed me in this game was field position. Too many times I had crap kickoffs that let you start around your 40. Two of your TD drives in the 2nd half were like that. Although you final one was started on your 1 yard line, so it wasn't ALL field position.

Great game Tim, see you in Little Rock in week 15. Hopefully CBs Lindo and Love are healthy and ready to play.

Ralph Given passes for 301 yards today against Texas. Ralph Given has not passed for 300 yards or more and WON a game since 2007. It just isn't Toad football. I need to get that running game of old back to help out.

Edit: Although I must say, Dixon has been better then expected this year and it is not all on that.

Ahhhh, week 6 also saw a ratings change for a guy who was a key player for me today. Very interesting how it happened this week.

CB Jerry Poole was 'unmasked' after what you could say was his best game of his career. Sure, a few of the passes given up in that key 2nd half were probably his fault but he also had 6 tackles, 1 sack, and the only INT in the game.

Poole goes from 33/45 to 35/35. It is a little of a disappointment, I did invest in him by sending him to summer league and chose him over the other 2nd year CB I had coming into the season. Still, he has performed good enough to stay on the team and his bars are acceptable to me. He is a slightly better version of Leonard Wolcott to me, who has been on my team for 6 years now. Not the future, but lesser, version of Rodney Love that I had hoped for though.

Smacked down to reality by Pittsburgh. OUCH!!

I just envision the day when Donovan has actual receivers to throw the ball to. I mean, they all pretty much suck ass, but he was still out there trying.
Giving up 24 points in the 3rd sure doesn't help. What the fuck happened to defense? Did they just quit? Give up? WTF?? 7 plays Pitt scores. And their next 2 possessions were only 3 plays each, both resulting in touchdowns. Thats 3 touchdowns in about 6 minutes of play. I mean jesus, my guys could have at least TRIED!!
A pretty sad performance today but thats exactly why I have low expectations this year. There is just to many holes on this team to be anything more then a .500 team this year.

Good game Cringer. I hate slow starts and with those turn-overs I thought it was going to be your day. Our teams are pretty closely matched and it showed. I'll have two starters healthy for Tulsa. LB Dotson will be a big help trying to stop a great passing attack they have. If I can get to the bye without any major injuries than I am happy, regardless of whether I win or not next week. As far as our next game, there's a good chance it will be for the division or Tulsa will get in there . What a great division we have this year. Georgia can't be overlooked to come sceaming back. They have my number, I'll tell you that. Good luck the rest of the way.

We hang on to win a tough one. Vermont would not quit. Of course "Swiss Cheese" didnt help the cause (My defense has a nickname). I had my pass defense in and you lit me up anyway. Bad signs for division games I think.
Singleton rips off another 155 yards on 26 carries. He had 1 TD also. Singleton seems to have the fumbles this season. Not happy about that.

Next week Texas comes a callin'. I sure would like to give the last remaining undefeated team a loss.

I tell you what, I am very thankful for it. At the beginning Jeff was in control of a great Columbia Fire (Georgia) team and Texas and Tulsa were a joke. I had a couple years of going at it with iceman when he took over Columbia/Georgia before he started turning over the roster and trying to move on from the great QB Cartegena.

To have added two solid owners in Texas and Tulsa has been great for the division and the league. It has made things much more fun as I try to hold onto what has been mine more times then not, the division crown.
