I did this thread because I knew what was going to happen. I couldnt have scripted it better.
Here is the Negotiations between California and Tulsa. First a little background. HA has inquired about Tulsa LT Tony Esqueda on many occasions dating back to January 2nd.

I am pretty disappointed. I was getting the short end of the deal but I accepted the deal, feeling this trade really helped both teams. I expected more out of HA, I guess.

why would you announce something that wasn't even finalized yet. that's like me announcing i'm gonna be a millionaire.

you're still on my preferred trading partners list, tarcone, but i already explained how i operate. you may not agree with it, but i don't agree with gravity and taxes.

fact of the matter is, for every one offer i send out to 1 owner, i've sent out possibly 5 other/similar offers to other owners. i check in this forum A LOT, i see who's online and i load up FOF to see who from their team i like/need and what possible trades can be done. there's only 2 situations where i wouldn't send out an offer to someone - they're on my banned list or they simply don't have anyone i want. but i send out offers all the time. obviously some teams have players i *really* want, others have players i wouldn't mind having. Esqueda is great and i wouldn't mind having him, but being an 11 yr vet, i'm not gonna have him for long. you, on the other hand, would have Stevens for the next 10-12 yrs. also, i did more research - at 1st i was pissed he only had 5 tackes, but i compared him to other rookie OLBs and Stevens is in the middle of the pack in terms of stats. if he fully develops he'll be a serviceable starter.

in any event Stevens is being offered to another team for a player (different position) i need more than Esqueda, who is also a few years younger.

trust me, you're better off not making this trade anyway. you boast how awesome Singleton is performing, but if you weaken your line how you gonna have a running game? how is Sanford gonna not get sacked? who is Sanford gonna throw to if you traded your best WR? i don't think you're seeing all the angles here. but that's what i do - i look at all the angles. i could've given up more to make it so that my trade for Devin Taylor went through, but i viewed the trade from all angles and sides and here i am, i have Sante, an 8th yr QB, as my starter now, a guy i can use for a much longer time than i would with Taylor. Esqueda would've been awesome on the Heroes, and lord knows we need a fucking OT, but at some point i gotta stop aquring these old vets and just hold on to my younger players and picks.

and in my book, a trade isn't finalized until both owners have agreed to it in a thread. that's why i treat trade offers like my friend offering to mow my lawn. it'd be nice if he actually showed up and did it, but until he does it i'm not holding my breath and if it doesn't happen then no harm done.

Why would you give a shit if he weakens his team with a trade? Who fucking cares! If you see a good trade that will help your franchise and the guy is willing to do the trade, then sign on the dotted line my friend.

You won't find any stupid owners in this league anyway. Everyone has a blueprint that they follow in regards to trades and free agent pickups. If you feel the trade favors you, there is always a reason.

i'm just saying, he's acting like this trade would significantly improve his team, like this is the mother of all missed opportunities.

one thing i don't like is he keeps referring to Stevens as someone i "traded" to him. so much can happen between the time an offer is offered and when it's finally confirmed that to think a guy is "yours" just cuz we agreed to something offline is jumping the gun a bit. that's almost as absurd as him already shopping Stevens around to other teams before the guy is even on his roster. not implying he did, mind you. but i would think everyone would understand that nothing is binding until a trade is confirmed in the trade forum.

i didn't even say the trade was off, which is the funny thing. i simply told him i was waiting on another owner to get back to me, since that owner has a player i want more than Esqueda. not like Esqueda is getting any younger, so what's one more week?

something has come up re: a player i really want on another team, and Stevens just may be the guy that will allow me to aquire that guy. give me a day or two to see what can be worked out. sorry for the delay.

i would agree but caution you that such is not the way it works....there is no honesty amongst thieves or FOF players...such a handshake deal is no longer reliable..

and by the way HA your offers and style hurt your credibility...if i am but one of 5 or 6 deals involving a player or pick i view you as not serious about your offer...in that case owners in the league may stop entertaining your offers because they are not real...just a word of caution...

and its nice to see Jave comment on each having his own style...you have come a long way young Jedi...

The way My defense is designed, I blitz my OLB a lot. Harnisch does pretty good but Stevens would have been a monster. Plus he is a rookie.
Esqueda solidifies your line. He wants to resign for 3 seasons, meaning he is good for 2 at least. A 70 rated LT. The WRs didnt matter. Sanford and Donovan havent clicked. Donovan is a decent WR but a stud KR. The guy you offered sucked. Bronson works well with Sanford, so he would have started. I had it covered.
Thats my reasoning. You would have gotten the better of the trade talent wise. But I would have gotten a young player.

Thorw in a pick and I will reconsider.
