  • Position question

I want to move Hawkins to MLB. Right now it says that he will retain 97% of his rating. I am not moving him because I don't want him to lose a single bit of his rating but here is the question. Does playing him out of position at the proposed position help improve his chances of not losing any rating?

For instance, if I play him at MLB all year, will the experience gained mean next season if I attempt to move him his will retain ALL of his rating and just take the experience hit?

it always seemed to me that the longer a guy played the less likely he would lose points at a position. im not sure there is a magic potion. what im always curious about is how the game handles an SLB with say a 7-10 rating as a WLB when he plays WLB. Does he take a ratings hit down to 70% (for 7) for playing there. Is it less? Is it more?

I'm not sure. His whole career I tried to move Allmon to a position that would make more of an impact. His current position takes him off the field quite a bit due to nickel and dime situations. He would take mega hits in the event I would move him. I think last season I considered moving him and he would only retain about 67% of his rating. Not sure how the game factors this in.

I wish I knew the answer to this.

Its been my observation that a player does not get a nickles worth of experience if playing out of position, but I cannot confirm that.

As for 97% retainage ... that is pretty damn high and would not stop me from making a change.

I thought this too but have seen it proved wrong on me more than once now.

The one I'll never forget is Merle Peavy, my stud SS, could've been moved to CB very early on in the IFL with no drop in ratings. I didn't strike while the iron was hot and never got a decent chance again. It was always like 70% after that I believe... and the Phantoms organization has yet to bolster a top-shelf CB in our history.

However I know the opposite is not always true either as I've had guys at a low % until they're well into their careers and then had the option to switch with no repercussions. I think Lenny Ramano was changed repeatedly from SE to FL because he never gave a shit which one I put him at.

I have to assume the % developed at the new position compared to the current position is taken into account.

It appears that Lenny has come down with a severe case of old-as-fuck and team management is wondering if a football will shatter poor Lenny these days.
