If a player does not submit a list, no bother to send the mods a PM informing them they will be absent for that part of the draft why should they receive the next available player? Look what happened to Minnesota a couple years back. They couldn't get their shit together and just got passed up.

It annoys me to see players not spend 15 minutes of their day to check in, submit a list, nor bother to be here during their scheduled draft time, and then receive a player who another GM, who was active and paying attention, had targeted?

If a GM uses all of their time, does not submit a list, nor inform the mods of their absence, then they should be skipped untill there log back in and make their own pick. If the end of the round arrives and the GM still has not checked in, then the mods will make a pick for them based on their scouts needs.

This isn't all bad. I would rather make my own pick then use the scouts needs anyway. The scouts are morons any damn way.

Skipping isn't really possible in the utility.

I would rather see a policy in place that says if you fail to make your pick then all future picks are moderated picks (at the beginning of the time slot) until that owner comes online to say that they are here and active. That way those owners don't continue to hold up the draft for those of us who are online and active.

Time limits are 3 Hours for the first 2 rounds. 2 Hours for rounds 3, 4 and 5. And 1 hour for round 6 & 7.
Is the utility really faster? For the sake of argument, lets do the math. If ONE, just 1 owner decides to take a break from the game during the draft, lets see what happens. This usually happens to owners who have been successful the previous year and have lower draft picks, thus creating less interest.

To be fair, most owners are active in round one so we will skip that. But if the owner goes AFK from then on out, here is the total:

        Round 2. 3 hours
        Round 3. 2 hours
        Round 4. 2 hour
        Round 5. 2 hours
        Round 6. 1 hour
        Round 7. 2 hour

Thats a total of 12 hours, in real time spend waiting on ONE, just ONE owner!!

Now lets assume that 5-7 owners take the absense. Multiply 6 by 12 and we have 72 hours, real time. Seventy two hours spend waiting on just 6 owners to make their picks!!

This is just an example, but a strong argument for some stricter rules for inactive owners.

League management sees nothing wrong with the current draft style, Jave. Next year we will be held up by the same inconsiderate GMs as this year, last year, the year before....

The playoffs and the draft show very clearly who's in this league simply for that "winning feeling" of beating someone else and show no "one for all" mentality whatsoever.

Wouldn't that mean that the teams should actually do well on the field?

Nope. Just that they want to.

Maybe if they didn't blow off the league they'd be around to pick up a few things from other GMs so they would win. I know I learned a lot of theories this past draft weekend from others that can only make my FOF knowledge grow...
