This is the official thread for the 2004 IFL draft.

Draft Rules:
1. We will begin using the Draft utility tomorrow with a 1 hour time limit
2. For today (Sunday) we will be using this thread with a 2 hour limit
3. If you bust your time limit, you may select any time afterwards at the pick number you fell to
4. If you bust your time limit, and 10 teams pick after you, your selecction will be made for you.
5. PMs for prefs will can be sent to roadrash or Cringer to be made for you during the board draft.
6. When multiple teams are on the clock, the first to post their pick, gets him.
7. You do not have to wait for me to update this post to select. If your #12 and #11 posted, your up
8. Any questions, let me know.

Picks 1-16

Committment To Excellence. That is the motto of the Oakland Assassins. Never a team, city or organization to accept second best, we have boldly stepped up to the to acquire both the first and second picks in this draft to become competitive this year, and every year thereafter. We are the youngest team in the league, and have the players in place to win multiple Championships, however.....we were missing two key players to make this happen.
Tonight, these players join the Oakland organization.

With the first pick in the 2004 IFL draft......The Oakland Assassins choose quarterback, from Air Force...Gene Hamilton.

Breaking every single record at Air Force in his 4 years, Gene has proved to the IFL that he is the real deal. Runner up for the Heisman trophey, Gene threw for 12,465 yards, 112 touchdowns, against only 24 interceptions. Taking the downtrodden Falcons from doormats to National Champions 2 out of his 4 years, and a 40-8 record, he recieved an excemption from the military to apply for the IFL draft. He will start for Oakland this year, and expect huge things from him in the years to come.

The best player in the 2004 IFL draft takes a back seat to no one. Running for 5567 yards and 63 touchdowns in his 4 year career at Clemson.. 2 time Heisman trophey winner both his junior and senior year....

With the second pick in the 2004 IFL draft, Oakland selects: running back, from Clemson... Wesley "Showtime" Connell.

I'm not even going to attempt to match Jave's spirited and very informative posts. I've simply coveted this guy from the day the players were made draft eligible. He's a AAA guy whose ability caused one league scout to comment only with, "Dat boy defend so good it make your dick hard." Syracuse wideout Gilbert Hitchcock need only thank one man for his lack of courage. For this man was flagged for pushing the SU player out of bounds late into a Gatorade tank headfirst and later quoted as saying, "Hey baby, I was just quenching the man's thirst."

With the 3rd-best pick in the 2004 ImperialFL Draft, I select the best overall player, shutdown corner Oliver McKenzie, out of West Virginia University.

With the 4th pick in the draft, the Power select G Butch Anderson out of Iowa State. There were some flashy players that were tempting to be sure but we feel Butch's ability to come in and be a starter day 1 will benefit us more than some of the rawer players with great potential. A young team like ours needs players who can come in an be productive now, we feel we have that in Mr. Anderson.

Burlington is now on the nonexistent clock. Good Luck.

With the fifth pick in the draft, the Burlington Bolts select: Quentin Logan, a 5'11 (has to be the smallest TE ever) 249 pound TE out of Southern Methodist University.

We feel this is a special player, a difference maker who will stretch the field on passing downs and knock people on their ass on running downs.

We thought about G Cuomo here, but to be honest... we feel we got a sixth offensive lineman here, damn near and he brings alot more to the table right now.

The passing attack has the potential to be spectacular next year. Now if we can just get a fucking running back *sighs*

*With the 6th pick in the draft the Lansing Ogres select LDT Sean Bratzke of Indiana.*

Simply a pick of the best player available. Combine numbers show Bratzke is a force and should be able to step right in and start for what should be one of the best D-Lines in the league.

I have my preference set but I don't know what has to happen with trades, wether or not Sov has to go in and manualy change the draft order or what but with the #7 pick, whenever it happens, the St. Louis Cardinals are pleased to announce the drafting of LG from the University Of Miami,
Marshall Cuomo.

And finally after days of torture for their fans the Texas HellRiders have decided on their pick.

With the number 8 pick in this years draft Texas selects TE Jamal Strong from Arizona Univ.This was a hard choice between Strong and the RB Andrews as we feel Paul Brown is a good fit for the new offense we're gonna run next year but he'll probably want more money than we're willing to give him,but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.We feel strong will allow our offense to head in the direction we want to go while at the same time giving us a valuable weapon to use.

Sorry I didn't make my pick earlier, a little thing called sleep got in the way.

With the 9th pick in the IFL Entry Draft, the Newark Bulldogs proudly select RG Wayne Ostrowski from Texas.

With the 10th pick int he IFL Draft Fargo has traded up to select...

RB Ricardo Andres, of N. Carolina Central


Hopefully he will turn out to be the balance on offense I was hoping to get.

With the 11th pick of the 2004 IFL draft, Portland is proud to select

We hope he will make an immediate impact to what we hope can be a real promising year.

12th overall, in the 2004 Imperial Football League entry draft, Montreal picks WR Jonathan Russell out of Southern California.

The Firebirds are excited to announce that with this draft choice they have addressed their greatest need on the field. They eagerly anticipate many seasons with a newly built receiving corps centred around Russell.
