Wow! #2 has won three, #1 only twice (Norfolk?), and #3 twice. No wildcard or #4 has ever won it all.

4th-6th seeds have never even played in a championship game. But its important to note that the No. 1 seed as been to the most championship games. So it's shows that getting homefield advantage throughout the playoffs is the most important aspect of playoff seeding that there is.

Although, this is a very small sample. Much of this could be simple chance.

Getting a bye is even more important. If you have a bye, according to this small sample size, you've got a 10/14 shot to get to the Imperial Bowl.

Amazing research. I would have expected that a lower seed than #3 would have been in the Bowl. I would have lost my pants if the bet was put to me without this information.

I think I was a #1 and a #3 for Viper championships. I believe that Little Rock was the other #1 in 2007.

          Jeff, a great graph.

Neat to see that every year, at least one wildcard upsets a division champ.

Some years though the WC is actually the better team. I know in 2003 and 2004 the Grizzlies had the better record and could have been the #1 seed had they won their division one of those years.

              2004 IFL AC East Runner-UP - Wildcard - AC Runner-up 10-5-1
              2005 3rd Place AC East 6-10 2007 2nd Place AC East 8-8
              2006 3rd Place AC East 7-9 2008 2nd Place AC East 9-7
2009 1st Place AC East, Imperial Bowl Champions 13-3

We were the #2 seed in 04' when we won. I remember Jeff and Columbia were #1 but SLC came to town and upset the Fire in probably the best IFL game ever, 48-42.
