  • NC WILDCARD: Lansing at Madison

    A TRIVIA BYTES SPECIAL REVIEW

There a saying, "The third time is the charm." Well, the Lansing Orgres surely hope so. After losing both ends of the regular season "home & away series", Head Coach Jake Lentz has been scratching his head for some answers. He would like to repeat going to the Division Game again where he lost last year to Imperial Bowl runner-up Lawrence.

This game has two teams that do not do anything real flashy but again they don't do much wrong either. There is a lot of balance for both teams and both play the "possum" game and wait for its opportunity to pounce.

The Orgres feature a QB Scott Nelson to WR Lionel Childers connection which has produced 103 receptions for 1502 yards and 9 TDs. Graham Kruse carries the rushing responsiblities.

The Demons offense is "Will Irby" and a decision to use a running back by committee (Jerry Davidson & Charles Bell) or toss to a receiving corp by committee (Irby just spreads the wealth around).

Both defenses are respectable and have the potential to have their day in court. Also, the game will be played with no major injury issues for either team.

The teams look to be really very even. For some reason, Lansing just cannot find the combination to open the lock. They trail in their rivalry series 5 wins to 11 losses. Last year, they found the way to shake the monkey ... this year they have seemed to lost the key again. Madison has had stronger teams in the past but has also found ways to go far in the playoffs with underrated teams, witness their 2008 Imperial Bowl appearance. Head Coach Freddie Cristal knows how to play the big games.

Give the guys your thoughts ... its tough playing a team three times in one season and finding something new to do.

Best matchup of the playoffs. Both teams are dangerous and this one is worth watching!! Lansing can put up a sick amount of points really quick so it's hard to bet against them.

can't beat them in the regular season, so that means somehow they're supposed to find a way to do it in the playoffs? nah. Madison over Lansing.

I want to change my vote to Lansing.
                They thumped methis season.
Also, it is almost impossible to beat a team 3 times in one season.

Last year, I still have nightmares about the beatings I took from Hartford' in the regular season and then I had to endure the third in the AC Conference Championship ... wish you were right, but it can happen, I assure you.

Maybe you will feel batter with me voting for Lansing then. The Ogres pull off the upset I say, as they almost did last week.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

Two instances of it happening within one year doesn't equal "almost impossible".
