  • Taylor vs. Sanford: A Review

In week 11 I started QB Devon Taylor against 10-1 Little Rock at home. In week 12 I started QB Matt Sanford at 5-6 Wichita. I used the exact same gameplan.
I did not hit reccommend. It was exactly the same.

Here is a breakdown of their days:

comp/att yards TDs Ints Long Rating
    Taylor 29-57 322 2 1 30 72.3
    Sanford 15-25 132 1 1 21 70.8

    Directional Passing for Taylor
    Distance att comp yards
    Screen 5 3 27
    Short 21 12 92
    Medium 19 11 123
    Long 12 3 80

    Directional Passing for Sandford
    Distance att comp yards
    Screen 8 4 22
    Short 9 6 54
    Medium 7 4 35
    Long 1 1 21

    Taylor
    5 screens/57 passes= 21%
    21 short/57= 37%
    19 medium/57= 33%
    12 long/57= 9%

    Sanford
    8 screens/25 passes= 32%
    9 short/25= 36%
    7 medium/25= 28%
    1 long/25= 4%

Short passes remain consistent But Sanford throws alot more screens.

The plan at the beginning of each game was very different.

1st qt pass plays run plays score
    Taylor 15 3 0-0

    Sanford 5 4 Wic 7-0

    2nd qt.
    Taylor 18 5 LR 21-14

    Sanford 3 1 Wic 14-3

    3rd qt.
    Taylor 14 3 LR 31-21

    Sanford 13 4 Wic 14-10

    4th qt.
    Taylor 17 4 LR 31-27

    Sanford 8 3 Wic 14-10

Little Rock is 3rd best in Opposing QB Rating with a 64.2 rating
    Wichita is 11th with a 77.9 rating

I find it interesting that using the same gameplan one is much more conservative then the other.

Not sure what it is about my team, but it seems other teams just end up passing more against them then they would other teams. I am guessing my team is not the only team that happens against, like Vermont for example.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

Good defense on 1st down and the fact that you're usually in the lead?

Does FOF track yards to go on 3rd down as a seasonal stat or just in the boxscore?

I had the same problem against your team and Oakland. I didnt change the passing game much but Chung threw alot of passes.Your game , Battle barely
touched the ball. I'm not sure how to combat that. Looks like it comes against very good teams.(secondarys), which you would think would give my guys the incentive to run more.

        Oakland Chung 28-60 46.7 294 4.9 1 1 60.0
        Little Rock Chung 21-51 41.2 281 5.5 2 0 72.4

you have to analyze down and distance too...that is the hard part...you might have a different percentage for 1st and 10 or 1st and 5 or 1st and 15 for the categories...even more so on 2nd and 3rd downs...that would be how you really know for sure...

I intended to do a more in-depth study, but playoff fever hit Tulsa.
