I think hanging onto the high draft picks and getting the best available can make the most long term positive affect on bad decisions in the past which left us playing catch up.
No disrespect to the past champs but wouldn't you agree that I fixed this for you?
Much better Jester. From now on I will PM you with what I want to say and then you post it. Haha

and some of these themes are what makes this interesting....for example in the draft you can take your "need" and reach or draft the better player "value" that you dont really need now but will in a year or two. My selection of the OG at 10th is an example of that. He was too good to pass but not critical to my team this year. With two aging OGs and one of them pissed off at the team it made sense to look to tomorrow there when the oppty presented itself.

          RB JC Polanco (nothing)
WR Grant Hatcher (good kick returner)
DT Walt Farley (starter, future of 65-70)
          LB Roger Delcorio (stud, 75-80)

your opinion is moot since you just like to be contrary. it's still an awesome unbelievable trade on my part, one of my greatest MP accomplishments.

The big issue that I saw with the trade was the recent contract that Gilpin had signed. For the receiving team Gilpin was not just a stud DE but a stud DE with a long contract for peanuts. I was "sure" he was gonna hold out if HA didn't resign him. ops:

I tend to lean towards HA in my philosophy of collecting starting talent using draft picks.
This season I have decided to make a fundamental change though and go with a more build through the draft and add a key FA or 2 every season philosophy.

It is a new process for me, and I think it will be fun

In the time since the trade to now, neither team has done much of anything. Right now, would you trade a 10th year DE with low cap numbers for two years for a good 3rd year starting DT, a 2nd year stud LB, and a rookie starting quality TE? I think a lot of GMs would. It wasn't a bad trade for Montreal.

again, you're just being contrary. it's ok.

and in the time since the trade, the Heroes have become one of the top teams on paper in the league, while Montreal still languishes in the bottom 5 of the league. that's what has happened. i stockpiled a roster full of immense talent, and what you see now is the product of the last several years worth of moves. that's what has happened. there's a reason why the Heroes are ranked #1 in the power rankings, and your "Power" has an 81 ranking. and you might want to say "3 years from now your team will be old", but you would be wrong. 3 years from now the cycle will have started all over again. the same way i built the team into what it is now is the same way i'll build it in the future. know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.

HA you better go to the playoffs and go far this year. If not then that will trigger some awesome debate.
