I received a trade offer while being on the clock. Since I'm around while being on the clock I have the advantage of responding to said offer, savvy.

Sorry my first rounder held up a little bit. I woke up at 9am and the draft still wasn't moved from the night before, then like 2 hours later it moved 10 or so slots.Steve Beans - Houston Renegades

it happens....Originally posted by SteveBsFanSorry my first rounder held up a little bit. I woke up at 9am and the draft still wasn't moved from the night before, then like 2 hours later it moved 10 or so slots.
I would ask that for all those complaining to pause a moment for some perspective. The league will get through the draft in the allotted time. At some points, the clock will run slow. At others it will run faster. The draft is meant to be an enjoyable event and not a race. We are doing fine. This is a league that runs one game sim a week (except for a couple 2x weeks). As I recall, the idea was to make this a league that was compatible with busy lives. If we continue to chip away at that with our draft, we become a different league.
So until we all start screaming for 3 games a week lets not get too worked up over a little delay here and there in the draft.GM Wichita Outlaws

and now after reading all the draft discussion i guess your rant was about me...
so i guess im obliged to say F OFF back to ya. I was checking into the board quite a bit while the draft sat stalled in the 1st rd. I checked again in the morning with a dead and stalled draft. I had family obligations on Sunday and checked back in late in the day. :x
Now back to my other message i posted prior to deciding i was the target of your anger. 8)GM Wichita Outlaws

Not entirely. You weren't the only one to miss your pick and there were a lot of zeros on team's lists of targeted players so many more easily could've/would've missed theirs had the current missed picks not been missed.Originally posted by dberner30and now after reading all the draft discussion i guess your rant was about me...

Done.Originally posted by dberner30I would ask that for all those complaining to pause a moment for some perspective.
Not nearly the point.Originally posted by dberner30The league will get through the draft in the allotted time.
Not sure where anyone's getting the idea that GMs want the draft to zoom by. I'll probably never pressure someone who's on the board during their pick. And the draft IMO is THE most enjoyable event of the season... when everyone participates.Originally posted by dberner30The draft is meant to be an enjoyable event and not a race.
I think we're doing anything but fine. As do the other GMs that are here on the boards while others won't even set a list. And evidently league management who's talked of changing the draft process for next season.Originally posted by dberner30We are doing fine.
And thus we come to the almighty list. I'm getting the picture that GMs think of the list as their toy or something. The list is there to show that you have consideration (or not) for the rest of the league.Originally posted by dberner30This is a league that runs one game sim a week (except for a couple 2x weeks). Of course everyone wants to make their own pick. But since some of us have busy lives the list is there for when you can't make it.
A little delay? Next time you have to wee-wee try to hold it for another 6 hours.Originally posted by dberner30So until we all start screaming for 3 games a week lets not get too worked up over a little delay here and there in the draft.

I think it is a bit rough to pound on people for missing one pick. . it happens. . .if someone misses two picks? Then complain. But once ain't that big of a deal. Just like missing an export every once in a while is not that big of a deal. It happens.
And db, F OFF, just felt like saying that. . .2005 AC North Division Champions

One thing to remember, is if you can't make a pick, use the utility. That's why it's there. There is no reason the draft should take more than 4 or 5 days, with a couple missed picks.NEWARK BULLDOGS WALL OF HONOR
