when i suggested to jeff that he should give up being a GM and come gameplan for me, that piqued the interest of an outside party - SkyDog - to take me up on my rhetorical offer and he inquired about actually being able to be my gameplanner. i don't have a prob with that at all - i fully intended on letting the AI gameplan for me anyway. i wanted to ask the commishes (or is that commishi) if that would be allowed.

of course if this does go through that doesn't guarantee overturning any bans or whatnot with certain messageboards.

again, i don't have a prob with this whatsoever. i also don't want this thrown in my face if the Heroes succeed. i don't want to hear about it when i get into a debate with someone and they go "well, that was the year you had someone doing your gameplan for you". the 2010 California Heroes are a work of art, i selected all the colors and if some artist thinks he can paint a masterpiece with the colors i assembled then who am i to stand in the way?

So let me get this straight, you want to make it so that someone does half the work for you, but you won't do it unless you make sure everyone gives you all of the credit for any success your team might theoretically achieve?

Guys. Im going to give this guy all these colors to paint with. You know, red, blue, green , yellow, etc. If he paints something that turns out to be a masterpiece, perhaps the greatest painting of all time, I want all the credit. Because, you know, I handed him the cans of paint.
Just because he did all the actual work, doesnt mean I didnt help you know.
So I dont want anybody coming back on me and saying "You didnt do anything" Because I did. I gave him the paint.

I personaly could care less what kind of input you get behind closed doors but if you're suggesting a co-gmship well that I suspect that that dog aint gonna hunt with most of us.

1) I'm not very fond of multiple people being allowed access to a single team. If SD wants to gameplan for a team perhaps he should ask to be on our waiting list.

That is such an odd statement to make. Last time I checked nobody was trying to barter their way out of a ban.

If you dont gameplan dont expect to get credit. I am not the best gameplanner but I respect guys who can get wins from marginal rosters. My favorite wins come when I believe I have found a weakness or something I can exploit and it works. That is a great feeling. Of course when you try and exploit it and you get blanked it feels like you are an idiot. Why not just give it a crack and see what you get.

not gonna turn this into a 10 page debate. SD would obviously need access to the gamefiles. just wanted to clear it with the powers that be cuz i believe in being open and honest and doing things legit. he wouldn't be a co-GM. wouldn't be setting depth-charts nor doing anything that falls outside the scope of the gameplan screens.

i completely planned on using the AI to set up my gameplan so to me this isn't any different. i wouldn't take any more credit for stomping on a team by hitting "recommend" than i would if someone did the gameplan for me. i think it's a cute idea and while i only plan on giving it a shot for one season if it works out nice then i'm not a fix it if it ain't broke kinda guy.

this is actually the reverse of what jeff does. he gameplans for teams that are filled with players he had no hand in aquiring. that makes him a perfect gameplanner. i want to build a team and not get in the way.

Goddamn it HA! Jeff jumps teams. We know that and use it appropriately (read: sparingly). There's a quota of "Jeff traded three 1st rounders for a WR" and "Jeff can't stick with one team" that must remain balanced. You're wearing out "Jeff can't stick with one team" for the whole season and we haven't hit FA 1 yet!!!


Your idea is to have someone else build something with your tools in a contest to build said "something". It's nothing short of handing the controller to a friend to pad your online playstation/XBox stats.

ok, i PMd SkyDog to decline. i can already see you guys completely neglecting the efforts and contributions i put into the team, specifically this season and focusing on the fact that someone else was gameplanning. i was perfectly fine with being Ron Wolf building the Packers team that Mike Holmgren used to win a Super Bowl. Wolf gets as much credit for that team as Holmgren/Favre. but you guys would obviously neglect my GM contributions and focus on SD's gameplanning. and i very much think this team is about to make The Leap and build on what we started last season.

still, it woulda been reeeeeal fun. you guys gotta learn to think outside the box sometimes. FOF is starting to really evolve into 2 distinct games wrapped into one, so much so that i think you could have a scenario like i wanted to try out with one guy performing GM duties and the other guy performing coach duties. maybe in another life.

game on.

(btw, thanks to SD for bringing this up. he took a joke i made towards jeff and turned it into something that had some pretty interesting possibilities).

Jeff has 21 players on his roster acquired in 2009. Of the other three teams with the best records in the league, Hartford has 12, Lawrence has 14, and Pittsburgh has 10. How much activity does a team owner need in a single season to be a real GM? Maybe if he had replaced his entire team his cohesion and chemistry would have gone in the crapper and he would have ended up at 3-12-1.

I find it ironic that you are so worried about not getting any credit for anything your team MIGHT accomplish because someone else will gameplan for you, while at the same time you don't give Jeff any credit at all for being a good GM because you credit all of his success to his gameplanning.

HA, why dont you start a league like that? I would join. I would love to be the GM and let someone else gameplan for me. I suck at gameplanning, but feel I do all right in the GM duties part.
