  • Summer League FAQ thread.

How does this work? Is it a young player that we want to improve quicker? Are there injury concerns? Is it a gamble or a definite positive move?

Send a 2nd year guy to Europe. 2nd year only.
    It developes them quicker, supposedly.
    Yes they can get injured.
Dont think it is a huge gamble. And I think there is some positive to it.

      thanks tarcone!

      more questions:

      when does it take place?
does the player have to have been drafted by you?
can a FA with 2 yrs exp be signed and sent?

You designate him when you designate a franchise player. He then travels and you dont find out what happened until the end of FA.
No, he does not have to be drafted by you.
That wont happen as you designate the guy before FA starts.

          OK

If I send a guy to summer league, and don't really expect him to play a whole lot in his second year, am I wasting this trip on him?

and does this increase potential or just current?

I'm assuming current but it's a strange concept for a single player.

There's a chance for a boom, but ideally you pick a guy who won't get a lot of playing time during the season, maybe a potential replacement for a star, etc... because the idea is to get the guy some playing time to up his current.

You can send a starter, but there's not a whole lot of point behind it because the guy is going to get his playing time anyway and as mentioned above, injuries can occur.
