What's up ... any projected schedule?

I am not looking forward to what it does to my team but anxious to get it over with.

Sent support the files early Saturday morning. Here's what Ethan (the support liaison) told me when I contacted him earlier in the week:

It's pretty much random when these files get done.
Nicely put. Because of that I can't really put together a schedule. We'll probably start 2010 next Sunday or Monday, hopefully.

I think FFL took about one week.

I have my team prepared for the upcoming retirement party in Tulsa.

          I predict I have 7 retire.

          Hopefully most are unsigned.

I should have a lot of old D linemen retire. It is going to be nice to get rid of all the underachievers. Rat bastards should retire already so I can stop getting my hopes up that they will actually play up to there ability.

As are the NFC "Champs". Another battle down the stretch for homefield advantage?

I have the feeling we'll have roughly 7 retirements:

                  Athey
                  Tan
                  Booher
                  Flemming
                  Suarez
                  Rick
                  Dostie

Out of those Flemming and Tan are the huge losses, Suarez and Dostie are lesser losses. Depening on which Booher shows up, that could be a fair loss as well.

                  2004 IFL AC East Runner-UP - Wildcard - AC Runner-up 10-5-1
                  2005 3rd Place AC East 6-10 2007 2nd Place AC East 8-8
                  2006 3rd Place AC East 7-9 2008 2nd Place AC East 9-7
2009 1st Place AC East, Imperial Bowl Champions 13-3

Let's hope! There is huge turnover in this league though: only IWC and SLC have won their division two years in a row.

It'll be a fun season, our whole divisions square off against each other, and we also play the AC East, so we'll get to take on every team that was in the past three Imperial Bowls next season.

One thing I like about FOF2007 is games aren't decided as much upon how much talent a team has. Now, a lesser team can at times outgameplan a purely better team.

In FOF2004, it seemed it didn't matter much what kind of defense you played. You could be in a 4 deep zone pass defense all day, but a team could still throw deep on you well and often. There would be no penalty to an offense if the defense had the best possible coverage for the play.

I like this but one thing that bugs me about the "all at once before the game" type of gameplanning that a game like FOF uses is that sometimes when facing a weaker team a GM thinks "If they do this I can beat them this way. If they do that I can beat them that way." but since you don't know ahead of time you have to guess and thus end up with roughly a 50/50 chance of beating a team you'd otherwise have much better odds of beating. I wish there was "do this until/unless" type of gameplanning like:

double cover their top receiver unless it's past the 2nd quarter and they haven't targetted him X time, in which case switch to [gameplan]

run 90% on first down unless it's past the 2nd quarter and my starting HB is averaging less than X yards/carry OR my starting HB has been injured, in either case switch to [gameplan]

I got the 2007 league files late last night. I have to finish up the logos, work on the universe files, then send out passwords. I should get to all of this by the end of the night. I'm talking late though, so don't wait up if you have to get up for work!
