Since no one is on here to discuss the game, I'll just say good game Jester. That big play by Romano goes to show that I was right in my adjustment yesterday. One of the few times he's not doubled, he take it to the house. Even with being double covered the majority of the game, he still made the critical plays when you needed them.
After having a great season, Booher nearly cost us the game. How in the world do you hit 87% of your FGs during the season, and miss a chipshot 37 yarder in possibly your last game?
Hickman is a stud. Even with no running game to speak of from our starter, he picked up yards on the ground as well as through the air. We moved the ball much better than I thought we would, and each time we did, it was Hickman completing a big pass. He's not going to put up gaudy stats, but the guy just wins. He has as many 4th quarter comebacks as many older QBs.
Still, for everything that we did on offense, the defense is what really won this game for us. Take away that one play by Romano and we were able to keep Stansfield in check for the most part. My initial gameplan was to defend the run on 1st and then drop into coverage later. Still even with that, I scaled back the run d aggression because I was afraid of them going over the top on me.
Incidentally, I think our coach actually had a some great play calls at the end of the game. The fact that we actually milked the clock rather than just rushing to get the TD and then leaving Stanfield and co. plenty of time to march down the field we only left him about 45 seconds to drive for the win.
