TRIVIA BYTES SUPER SEVEN - Week 9
The Easter holiday game schedule presents some interesting matchups even though a majority of the elite teams have bye weeks.
 #7 - Wichita (2-6) at Iowa City (3-4). Don't laugh at the team records. It is very possible that one of these teams may win the AC North. Both teams are undefeated in the division. Wichita's two wins are over the current division leader, Cleveland. Iowa City has a win over Montreal. If one of these teams can run the table on their division schedule, it will vault that team to the division crown. This is a key game for the Snipes and the Outlaws.
 #6 - Anchorage (5-2) at Albuquerque (2-6) . The Lynx have a simple goal this week - keep their playoff slot intact & find some needed rest for their multiple injuries. They play against a team that has not performed up to expectations this year. But it may not be as easy as the Albuquerque record suggests because the Matadors will be playing for pride and to avenge the 33-18 butt pounding that they took from Anchorage in the first game of the season.
 #5 - Lawrence (6-2) at Vermont (3-5). Lawrence has comfortable 2 game lead in the division and hope to repeat their 24-13 trouncing of Vermont in Week 1. Did We say "trouncing"? Well, after a closer look at that earlier game, the log shows us that total yardage was about the same. In fact, Vermont had more 1st downs and a longer time of possession (76 plays to 61 plays). It seems that turnovers proved to be the winning or losing factor for the outcome. This suggests that we throw out the records and get buckled up for a great game There should be good aerial show provided by both QBs, Tobias Stanfield and Virgil Sepulveda. Lawrence will probably use RB Bucky Beaver more this game in order to divert attention from Stanfield's potent arm. However, Vermont, with the right game plan, could step up and surprise the division leader.
 #4 - Columbia (3-4) at Tulsa (5-3) . Which of the teams will show up? We don't know and can't predict since both teams have been hot and cold throughout the season. Even though Tulsa has been a bit more consistent that Columbia, odds are that this will be a close and hard fought game. Columbia is coming off an impressive win over Newark. Tulsa is coming off a disappointing loss to Lawrence. We, at TB, calculate this one as dead even.
 #3 - California (3-4) at Cleveland (4-3) . California continues to right their season and will find its opportunity to continue that quest against a team that has struggled for the last couple of weeks. The game is of vital importance to the Claws as they desperately position themselves to maintain control of the division. California vocally plays for endorsement of its renegade office management style and a win against a division leader will turn alot of heads. Both teams have their share of injured players so the bench may be a key factor in the game.

THE BEGINNING OF A TWO GAME FOCUS ON THE NC NORTH
 #2- Pittsburgh (6-1) at Salt Lake City (3-4) . Pittsburgh is hot, hot, hot. Their win over Madison last week was huge and they have only lone loss ... that loss was to the NC West power house, Oakland. You would think that they are a shoe in for the NC North title ... but not so fast, Lansing and Madison are still lurking in the shadows. So, the Power's task at hand this week is to continue to play one game at a time. This week's game is against a very dangerous but subperforming squad, the Salt Lake City Stallions. What's wrong with SLC this year? They clearly have the talent. The only missing link, from past years, is the notable absence of Head Coach T.J. Palmateer who jumped ship to Hartford. Just consider that Hartford has a 6-1 record at this point. SLC is 3-4. Can SLC find a way to find respectablity, without Palmateer? There might be an opportunity this week. The Power's starting QB, Alvin Mann, is out for the game. The awesome defense of the Power will need to step up to the likes of RB James Tart, QB Chris Chaplin ad WR Grady Gomez.

THE GAME OF THE WEEK, A NC NORTH CLASSIC
:!: #1 - Lansing (5-2) at Madison (4-3) . Well, the Orgres of Lansing and Demons of Madison won't have time to hope that Pittsburgh can't hold off the onslaught of SLC as they have to prepare for an head-to-head battle against their other division foe. Isn't the NC North just a fun division to watch this year? Madison, last year's participant in the Imperial Bowl, is finding alot of competition to repeat as division champs. It seems that every week in the schedule has been critical and this week is no different.
Both teams are relatively healthy for this point in the season. So, each will be giving their best shot. Madison leads the league in not turning over the ball. Lansing leads the league in giving up the least number of points and has the second best effort to hold teams on third down conversions.
Madison features QB Will Irby who has the second best QB rating at 97.8, 11 TDs and 0 INTS. Lansing features balance, surprise of attack and a stout defense.
Both teams met on Week 1. Lansing won at home, 20-10. Lansing's WR Isreal Davis was MVP with 162 yards from 8 catches. Bottom line, Lansing can recover from a loss, but we don't think that the defending NC North champs can recover from a second consecutive loss in the division. This game has all the hype to be a make or break game ... and you can bet that means some great football!
