Just figured more people check out this forum. Have a question regarding player development for my league in BB.

Don't think I've heard of it, maybe over at FOFC though. Maybe you could share some more info on the game, no?

Be more than happy to. Blood Bowl is a boardgame that is a cross between Football and Rugby with a little, no make that a lot, of fantasy thrown in.

Pick a race, make a team, and play against your friends. Races are based upon Warhammer races (BTW that is not where I got my nick from, got that from Battletech). Each team has certain racial advantages, Elves tend to be finesse teams, but break easy. Orcs can do a bit of everything, but are slightly better at bashing. Undead are great bashers, as are dwarves. Dwarves have a higher end potential over undead though. Skaven are fast, crunchy rats, but what they lack in durability, they make up in numbers. Humans can do a bit of everything.

Each turn, each player, can do one of 5 actions, move, block, pass (only one per team per turn), blitz (same as pass), handoff (same as the previous two actions), committing a foul (one per team per turn). Additionally, you have to move all of your players in 4 minutes or your time is up. If you fail any action, fail a block, drop a pass, fail a dodge (moving from a spot adjacent to your opponent), get caught fouling, you commit a turnover and your opponent starts his turn immediately.

Most of the actions are self explanatory, except for fouling. Any player that is knocked to the ground must make an armor value roll. If the roll exceeds their armor value, the player is injured. Roll again, on 2-7 the player is stunned and loses his next action, on a 8-9 the player is knocked out, but may return after the next TD is scored, and on 10-12 the player has been injured and the player that threw the block receives 2 star player points. If a player is already down on the ground, he may be fouled. The player committing the foul adds +1 to the die roll, and +1 for each adjacent friendly player (those aiding the foul), and attempts to penetrate the helpless player's armor value. If successful, the player is injured as usual. The player that is being fouled rolls a D6, on a roll of a 6 the player is ejected from the game.

Each player takes 8 turns each half, who ever has the most TDs after that is the winner.

The game is great fun when played in a league, and has some aspects of RPGs (your players advance in skill, etc.) and sports sims.

sounds kind of cool, but the only board games I play these days are candyland and chutes and ladders, you know, the manly stuff..... B)

stuff like this is something i never really knew about (except D&D, if that is kind of the same) until recently.
