Yes, I'm excited. I'm not able to concentrate a whole bunch here at work, and I don't really have anyone to talk to about the game. Probably not a good idea to go stand around the water cooler talking about all the big games today. How cool would I look?

I was doing some "season preview" reading, and both Madison and Newark are kind of dark horse teams. Madison was picked to finish last in their division, and we were picked to finish 3rd.

A couple of "underdog" type teams squaring off.

Looking back at our 1st meeting of the year, and we basically lost this game in the 4th qtr. Deep in our own end, Colin Blain fumbled to set up a short scoring drive. Then Madison kicked a 56yd FG on their next drive. That was the nail in the coffin, because of the pressure MAD's DE's put on Sante. MAD also did a phenomenal job at stopping Crespo. Crespo had his 2nd lowest rushing yardage output of his career in this game. We don't play well coming from behind. When we lose, we usually lose big.

Not likely going to happen. I've tried to get a couple of football guys into FOF, and they didn't understand it. Too much Madden, I guess

I was going to cave to Matt and his PM's and run the games now, but it looks like the Matadors don't have an export in yet. So I will have to wait and see if hawkster gets one in. He IR'ed a guy and signed another guy yesterday, and has 47 active guys. I don't want to screw him over if possible.

Crespo was completely ineffective after he got hurt. He basically couldn't run for more than 3 yards.
Our kicker misses 2 FG's which obviously would've/could've changed things. Easy to make excuses I guess.
We had a chance to stop them and make them punt late in the 4th, but we just couldn't step up on the 3rd and 1. Cody Reyes had a key run there.
Sante played pretty good, I thought. I think he just earned himself an extension.

Oh well, all good things come to an end at some point. It just wasn't meant to be, I guess.

This changed the momentum of the game. MAD seemed to dominate until we were able to make some big plays through the air. All in all, when the engine breaks down it's hard to make the car move

We almost gave the game away at the end but pulled it out in OT.


Win or lose next week this season has been a huge success in cleveland. Never thought we would make the playoffs let alone 1 game away from the Bowl.

Pretty good games this round.

Congrats to Jeff on a pretty damn good turn around of Oakland. It didn't look like you would even make the playoffs there for a while. This is why I need to give up my team, I feel bad when I beat someone in the playoffs. The Oakland 'to be renamed' will probably be even better next year so I am sure you will have your revenge.

As for the game. The big guys did their job. Given, Dixon, and Kennedy on offense. Cronin on defense. Solid game all over for the Toads. A couple of LBs banged up, but nothing to keep them from playing against the Demons.

Though losing is rather heartbreaking, I'm feeling pretty good about our season overall.
Goal #1 was reached when we won our division and made the playoffs. We won a game, and competed in our playoff loss. It was a fun ride.

Now comes the part where we need to determine what steps we take this offseason, if any.
