  • Zero means sometimes???

I'm very disheartened to inform you guys that this week I set my offensive gameplan for every situation over 10 yards to be a pass (0% running) and yet TWICE my team ran the ball on 3rd and 15+ yards.

Earlier in the year I had "passes over 40 yards" set at 1% or lower and started the game with a 40+ yard interception which I accepted as maybe being the 1% but now I don't believe.

This leads me to lose all faith in gameplanning for FOF.

This league is still very entertaining though so I'll be staying in for the fun of it and for roster building! However this is a sad day for me as far as IFL/FOF2004 goes.

I'm not posting this to rip on the game or piss anyone off, just to acknowledge anyone who took gameplanning seriously as I did and wasted a lot of time on it.

BTW - There are also times when a team declines a penalty they obviously should have accepted.

Yea, thats really your coach though bro. In the FOF help file it states that your coach still has the final decision on the gamecalling matters.
Last week, in another league, I had my basic gameplan set to run an average of 67% of the time on first and second down, and considerably less on 3rd. My starting RB ran 41 times that game, so its all about coaching bro. time to fire that fucker.

Yeah, sometimes you gotta look at it like you're the GM, you tell them what to do but in the end it's your coaches decision, it isn't perfect, but it's what it is.

Where does it say that? I just looked at the file for a few minutes but couldn't find anything on it.

I'm gonna read more tomorrow and would like to know where to look for that.

Thanks for the info both of you.

The section below dictates how often your team will perform an action compared to the league average. A `50' for 'go for it on fourth down' does not mean your team will attempt a first down in 50 percent of its fourth down situations. It means that your coach will assess the situation, and has an average likelihood of attempting a first down, compared to other coaches.
            In detail:
It means that your coach will assess the situation
Mabe this is only my opinion, however, "I" read that has, if your coach is staring at a 7 man front on 3rd and 15, he is not going to run the ball. IF he sees a nickel, with a 3 man front on 3rd and 3, he is not going to pass.
The GM's, like you and I, who spend a good deal of time gameplanning, will switch things up, do something unexpected, throw some blitz's at the offense, may run into this from time to time.

You many have just been outcoached

It's all about practice, by that I mean fiddle with your gameplan and see what works, sort of a bridge between you and your coach. it's taken me an entire season to really get to where my passing game is what I want it to be, this after a ton of tinkering and what not. One more thing, my 2nd FB is my pass recieving FB, he's the guy I want as the target when my QB throws to a FB and as much i've fiddled with it I havn't been able to get that into my gameplan I may never be able to, but maybe one week i'll hit upon it and i'll have learned how to make it exactly how I want. It isn't easy at all, and sometimes very frustrating, but I think if theres something you want to do, it can be done, even if it's frustrating getting there.

It's not totally hopeless--once I began to understand that I didn't have the personnel to get vertical in this league, I divised a plan that put my studs in formations and situations they could excel in. I got out-coached when I first tried it and thought the plan was a failure but the last three weeks has seen my offense perform pretty much the same way---meaning I've found the right combo
