SLC vs Columbia
The untimate classic, the run vs the pass. Columbia QB Cartagena is a stud, and loves to pass the ball around. Having no favorites is bad news for SLC has they cannot focus on just one reciever. Shut down Whitaker, and that leaves Ramos open. And don't laugh about their backups either. Walton pulled in nearly 600 yards in catches and TE Spraggins was nearly the 3rd 1000 yard reciever on the team. Bad news for Columbia is their D. Aside from MLB Maynard, there are holes all over this team, and that leaves James Tart smiling. Racking up nearly 1800 yards rushing this year, Tart has been unstoppable, and Columbia will have their hands full just keeping him to a buck fifty. Bottom line:
SLC will control the ball with Tart, Cartagena, has good as he is, cannot do it himself. The 27th ranked rushing attack just will not do in the playoffs. SLC, or should I say, Tart, moves to the next round.
Portland vs the Vodoo
Portland has been hot and cold all year long. The Vodoo has overachieved all year long. The Seals(what a gay name, who thought that one up? I been to Portland many a time and have never seen a seal) play a dangerous game of airing the ball out and attempting to hit the big play every time they get the ball, regardless of how many times they turn the ball over in this attempt. Good news for Portland is the Vodoo secondary has no chance in hell of stopping this. Sorry Vodoo, your season ends here.
Lansing vs Orlando
I still cannot fiqure out how one of the best RB/FB combos in the league couldn't manage a serious rushing attack all year long. Lansings Webb and Steib could be a dangerous combo if the powers that be gave them a chance. Orlando does more with less, however the loss of starting QB Hynes and DE Williams will be to much to overcome. Lansing moves on by default.
Hartford vs STL(The Red Cross Bowl)
Both of these team are being tore up with injuries. WIth a combined 12 injuries to starting players, whoever escapes this game without yet another player in the training room will be a victory. One thing is for sure, this game is going to come down to the forth quarter. Both of these teams are well coached, and do what they do best to perfection. This one comes down to who wants it more. With STL having home field, and Hartford starting a QB that wouldn't sit on most teams bench, the Cardinals move on.
