  • Speaking of draft lists.....

Since I have never put the 'beating a dead horse' emoticon on here I will use this one....

    oke:

Guys, this is just a request to use the lists a little more. This draft is not going as efficiently as it could be in my opinion.

Look, I know you guys like to make your picks live. BUT! If you sign on, and your pick is one, two, three, four picks away and you are not going to be sticking around, why not make up a list of your top few guys and turn it on?

You probably know who you are going to want with your pick at this point, or which of a few guys. So make your list and when you pick comes up everyone won't be sitting around saying "Gee he was here 15 minutes before his pick came up, and now he has been sitting on the clock for over an hour. I wonder what I should do since my pick is coming up and I only have ____ minutes left before I have to take off."

I am not saying listing 30-50 guys. Although I like do like that.

We have seen this kind of situation pop up a bunch this year for some reason and it is slowing things down more then they need to be. I am sure we will get done in time, but we are slower then previous years.

I have found that lists are great when you are in a rebuilding mode when you need tons of players, or when you need one specific player (or type, postition, etc.). I think it is a pain to make a list when you need two or three players.

I think the reason for this is when you are rebuilding you just want the best player regardless of position. When you need one specific player or position, you can focus your list there. But, when you need just a couple of players at a few positions, you have to be careful about which position is having a large number of players drafted. For example, if you want a WR, TE, and a C, you might pick a WR before you would otherwise, because everyone else is drafting them, etc.

Sorry if this is slightly OT from the thread, but will you be putting the draft picks through for the next export? Thanks!

Yes, understood. But I am talking about a certian scenario that keeps popping up. A guy is online, see's his pick is only 2 or 3 picks away, and leaves. He then doens't come back for a long time, and in the meantime his pick comes up and everyone waits for him to show back up.

If you put 2 or 3 guys on your list and turn it on then things can keep moving.

I seriously don't think anyone in this league is looking at who is available, knowing that only 2 guys will be taken before his pick, and he can't make a list of 3 guys he would like. Most, if not all, the guys in this league are thinking ahead towards what they would like to get.

Was wondering when this would pop up.

Suicane actually put them in last night. He gave the files to me, and when I run the stage this afternoon I will update things even more. Then you guys can have it all.

you think you can run this a little early? if i can safely change position of lincoln edge then i can make this pick. otherwise im stuck mulling over half-assed trade offers and scouring over all this 4th round talent thats left.

I really like how there is not near the amount of talent coming out of the colleges as there is already in the league. When we started, there was WAY too much talent in the league.

Yep. Jim felt the same way about IHOF when they used the fictional league util. Unfortunately, no one had a choice since you couldn't automatically create fictional leagues until 5.1.

There's going to be a ton of whining and crying over there I think when some of the current stars retire. Many of the teams are built around a squad of superstars and don't get the most out of their talent. I can't talk too much though considering what we did over there this last year.

Actually I have an offer, which I didn't think was too half-assed.

Still, are guys ok with me running the stage early? Normally I would say 'NO, not yet'. But because I have an offer out for this pick I don't feel right about saying that yet.

I don't think that's anything that warrants moving the schedule around. Some guys could still be working on exports. I usually don't get mine in until the last hour (which isn't the case today).

Meh, running a stage early for this reason really doesn't light me on fire.
