  • Question??

The cut down to 53? Does that include players that are on IR? I lost a player for the season and placed him on IR..

    Thanks for your time

Good question. IR players don't count toward the 53-man limit.

In fact, if you have scrubs on your team you want to cut, but they are injured, you can't cut them. So some teams put them on IR instead. The only downside is you have to pay them, and if they are one of your 53 top cap numbers their salary+bonus will count on the cap.

        Thanks guys. Next question...

If I have a rookie, that is injured (not season ending) but I would like to keep and would not contribute this year.... Does that impact him negatively if I put him on IR? I know he will not move any experience wise... But will he go down?

        Thanks again

I have no knowledge that it would negatively impact him, I am planning on doing that with one of my guys. If it's a long injury though, he still might lose ratings from the injury whether he is on IR or not.

I think he will lose potential and current. I did this with one of my Safties. This offseason he dropped about 5 pts in each category.

Also, I had a rookie C who got hurt in preseason. I put him on IR, and his ratings took a hit in the offseason. He was looking to be a bust regardless, though.

I'm not sure if that's not just normal busting, though.

Before you cut that roster slot hogging backup WR Walton remember I would be willing to sacrafice a future draft pick, a roster slot and some Mule CAP space for "Johnboy."

But I would only be willing to do you this favor cause I think the Fire are such a class organization and any time a win-win outcome can be arrived at is fine with me. 8)
