Yeah I saw that... That was when I realized that I was asking to much for my 2nd rounder... Granted 2 3rd rounders would have still worked. But they would have had to be late rounders and I was hoping to get top of the 3rd. So to make that fit I went ahead and updated my post in the trade section.

    Glad someone posted it though...

      You go to NFLBlitz too?

BTW - This thread wasn't directed towards your trade post at all if it seemed that way.

        Never thought that.

        I went to

and even thought about posting it. But was not sure if it translated here, so I didn't...

        It is a good tool..

The Bears used the picks on DE Michael Haynes and QB Rex Grossman while the Jets took DT Dewayne Robertson.
2 first round picks for Chicago end up a run-stuffing DE the year before Lovie comes in to change the system to more of a pass-rushing style and an injury prone QB.

At least I don't hear much about Robertson, but I don't follow the Jets closely enough to know if he looks like a bust or not.

Right now he is in the middle. Not what they thought he would be but not a total bust.

Thank you for such a compelling argument against draft charts. You've changed my opinion of them. Perhaps you could send the 32 NFL teams that use them an email informing them of how inadequately they're doing their jobs?

Not all NFL teams use them. I heard a few guys on NFL radio this past spring talk about how they didn't like them much. These were coaches/GMs, and I wish I could remember exactly who but I can't, sorry. I have never been a big fan of them myself, but guys seem to like them so hey, no big deal to me I guess. I can still talk a guy into breaking the chart if they want my player/pick bad enough.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

I had thought they all used some form of one.

I'd say the chart is "broken" most of the time in trades. The actual players available in the draft class come into play moreso than a generic chart.

I don't use it myself. It just seemed like something to post during a slooooow draft for someone who might not have a feel for how much the later round picks are worth.

I keep a copy nearby during draft time . . . Mostly as a way of judging player worth. I use it as a guide though, I've busted it a few times in trades.

Althought last year it was worthless, normally you have a big drop in talent from 1.1 to 1.7. . the guide shows the 7th worth half as much as the first overall. But last year the drop off in talent did not come until around 1.20.

This year the drop is about right. . maybe a bit before 1.7 either way the draft card isn't 100% right on, just a guide.

I wouldn't be surprised if they all have them around during the draft, but I know some guys talked about how they didn't like them at all.

And yeah, no problem posting it. I am used to these popping up around draft time.

I use straws to figure out trades involving numerous picks. Then I match them up to see if their length equals outs:

                          1st round pick = 7 inch straw
                          2nd round pick = 6 inch
                          3rd round pick = 5 inch .. and so on ..

I will trade you guys my 1st and 7th for your 2nd and 6th!

Some NFL teams use them, but they use different charts with different values. Its dumb for every team to go by the same chart (in my opinion anyway). In my experience, those charts are mainly used in online leagues by GMs to assure themselves that they havent made a bad trade (which in many cases they have, but the chart says they havent)
