I don't mean to offend anyone here (really, I don't), but for the longest time I've never understood guys' fascination with makings posts stating that they've sent a PM to someone; the ol' "PM Sent" messages.

To me, it seems like this would be tipping off any possible competition. Our phpBB board has PM notification, so what's up? What am I missing?

to who? you will never know. . .I just post it in a random trade thread everytime I send a PM. . .makes people wonder

I don't do it, but my guess is so people know they have a PM.

If you don't have e-mail working to notify of PMs, it's not always noticable to see the link up top.

I know for me I use firefox and you do not get the pop-up saying you have a PM. So it is a force of habit for me to put in "PM Sent" so that the person knows that I sent them something incase they are like me and do not get the pop-up...
