  • (Week 13) Which division has the best coaching?

In an effort to get some added league discussion this week I pose the following question, which I'll be coming up with an answer for as well. If I get enough responses I'll probably start posing a question each week.

Which IFL division has the best/worst....

    Coaching (all around)

Bonus: How much do you think coaching effects FOF2004's game calculating and do you use coaches info in your gameplanning?

So you are talking about the actual in-game coaching staffs then right? Not the "coaching" or gameplanning of the owner/gm, correct?

Hope its the ingame staff and not me. Otherwise the answer is I suck.

I would have to say my division AFC East is the best. Every team in the division is above 500. The Beasts in the division, notwithstanding. LOL

Yeah, if its the actual ingame coaching staffs, then that is hard to say unless I really start digging. Usually the only time you here anyone say anything about their coach is when the coach screws up and does a fake FG with 1 minute left in the game, and they trail by 2. Or something like that.....

While my attempt to generate some banter has apparently failed here's my findings....

After scouting the league (a lot slower process than I'd originally thought) it appears to me that the NFC West currently boasts 3 play-off teams for a reason: That division has the best all around coaching in the IFL.

I also found that I'm a LOT more comfortable (read: he ain't going nowhere) with my Head Coach now that I see there are no truly amazing coaches in our league.

Note: The Lawrence Phantoms and Newark Bulldogs, two top-tier IFL defenses, both have coaches with "Excellent" defensive playcalling abilities. I only expect to strengthen my defense in the coming seasons and I believe I've heard similar from Matt (Newark's owner/GM). I dare say the NFC East is going to become the IFL's "Black and Blue Division". Perhaps it already is when you consider Newark is leading the league in injuries (I believe) while at the same time having an "Exellent" injury avoidance rating.

Additional note: Norfolk's offensive coordinator is probably the best coach in the league for the position he currently holds.

                NFC West

                Records:
                Reno 9-2
SLC 7-4 (league losses 2, record assuming non-league wins 9-2).
                Vancouver 7-4(league record assuming non-league wins 10-1).
Oakland 1-10( league record assuming non-league wins 4-7).

Base division record: (not counting Oakland because I suck), 23 wins 10 losses.
Assumed record with non-division losses: 28-5

Thats 28 wins, against only 5 losses(remember, we are not counting Oakland).
                Not fucking bad!

A division is only as strong as it's weakest link.

Yea, yea, laugh it up while you can....This team is going up....and FAST. This time next year, you all will fear playing Oakland. Not only that....All my young players with serious potiental are already signed to long term contracts. So enjoy poking fun at us now, only to lose to us for the next 5 years.

And to keep this thread in the vein of the original post......the only NFC west teams that will lose....will only lose to NFC west teams. If it wasn't for our league, we would all be undefeated.

                          Our division is THAT GOOD!

While I think I usually agree with you I have to say this statement is 100% wrong.

Oakland sucks this year yet the rest of the NFC West is no joke!

This is probably 80% alcohol talking but I fear NO team who's defense I don't consider better than mine and as of now I don't consider any defense better than mine.
